What's Your Poison?

Amy Bunger's January newsletter is up on her shop website. Just click on the right date to enjoy all the goodies. This is a very large newsletter, full of interesting things but my favorite is the photo of the first Kirk and Hamilton poison bottle Amy's stitched. This is a series that is a particular favorite of mine (Ok, I admit I an strange!) but if you don't find Halloween canvases to your taste, there is still a great deal to enjoy in this newsletter.  Amy always includes a book review, class announcements, a bit about the new Tony Minieri DVD set, glimpses of her Home Study pieces being stitched and much more.  There are even new Holiday Parade canvases from Susan Roberts that Amy will be doing stitch guides for.

The Needle Works newsletter is up, too.  Once again there are plenty of classes to admire,  a new monthly club announced (featuring circus elephants!),  a stitch will be diagrammed/deconstructed/enhanced, and some fabulous finished projects shown off.

I hope you have a quiet moment soon to sit and enjoy the good reads.

BeStitched Goes Nobuko

The latest video from BeStitched in Arizona shows how to do nobuko stitch.  They graph the stitch, show stitched examples and then stitch in front of the camera.  The one thing that is lacking is a diagram of how the next row interlocks with the previous but this is a stitch diagrammed a lot of places.  Use BeStitched's tip to stitch the diagram with an old needle using a copy of a diagram from one of your books and that should help a lot.

If you missed any of BeStitched's earlier videos, you can view any of them on their YouTube page.

Gay Ann Alert

If you are a fan of Gay Ann Rogers' designs, she is offering a new geometric briefly on her website. Gay Ann Rogers does very feminine, delicate pieces that she sells occasionally. You won't be able to buy this new piece called Summer Solstice for long so act fast.

There is going to be a Shining Needle Society classroom for stitching this piece since it is meant to be done in various colors and with or without various aspects of the design.  Gay Ann hopes that the experience of being with others experimenting with their Summer Solstices will help all the stitchers become more flexible in making design choices.

Ornaments for All Year 'Round

Ornaments aren't just for Christmas, you know. Many of us could use a little ornament hanging near our desk at work to remind us that we aren't just that person behind the desk or on the phone or on the shop floor.  Tapestry Fair is going to release a series of ornament toppers at the January 2012 TNNA show and preview the first for us on their blog.  It's the perfect thing to lift our spirits on gray winter days!

Michele at the Bristly Thistle has been stitching the Kelly Clark monthly ornament series.  As always Michele puts her own spin on things, this time by substituting crystals for beads.

What's your favorite ornament to display all year?

By the way, Pocket Full of Stitches has posted a wonderful finished piece to celebrate the new year of 2012.  Enjoy!
