I've always thought that needlepointers fall into two camps: the perfectionists and the stitchers who needlepoint for fun and relaxation. I'm a fun and relaxation person myself (if you toss in a bit of "Let's Try Something New"). It took me a long time to realize that I needed to learn to Not Settle in my stitching and that my lackadaisical attitude of Fun First had something to teach the perfectionists among us. We both need to learn from each other's personality style.
Reading this article from Thistle Threads about perfectionists who are interested in taking Tricia Nguyen's stumpwork casket classes, I wonder if there aren't more perfectionists among us than I realized. What do you think?

Why Needlepoint.com Loves Openwork Background Stitches
Some folks love full coverage for their needlepoint but the trend is to use light coverage for the backgrounds these days as it is faster, and allows the subtle paint shading to be part of the design without the pain of constantly changing thread colors. Needlepoint.com's latest needlepoint essay is on openwork background stitches, why they use them and which are their favorites. If you are thinking about trying this on your next piece, you'll enjoy seeing what the shop has to say.

Tilli Thomas
Terry Dryden just announced she is now selling Planet Earth's Tilli Thomas Essentials and posted all the available colors. This thread is half silk and half merino wool and works well on 18 count. (I find it a bit thin myself but your stitch tension may be much different than mine.)

If your favorite shop doesn't carry it you can pick up some from Terry's Etsy store.

Threadaholic Alert: New Kreinik Color—Wisteria
Here is Kreinik's newest color, Wisteria 9593. It is available in sizes #8, #12, #16 braid and in 1/16" ribbon. (But not in #4 Braid—it's too thick.)

I think it is a beautiful pastel.
