Breaking News: Janet Burnett Has Died

The rumor mill says Janet Burnett of A Collection of Designs has died.  She retired a few years back and sold the line to Needlepoint.com who renamed it Burnett and Bradley.  You can find her work online at Needlepoint.com.

Thanks to SL, I have a link to Janet's obit.  She sounds like quite a lady!

New from Beth Russell: Hare and Tortoise

Beth Russell Needlepoint has released a new design, based on characters from Aesop's Fables as interpreted for a late Victorian castle painting.

It's their first new design in quite a while and a lovely one.  Just remember this is a printed design which I think is on 14 count Zweigart meant to be worked with three strands of Appleton tapestry wool.

The Nashville Needlepointer's Selvage Edge Trick

Instagram's Nashville Needlepointer has a quick and easy trick to find out which side of your canvas is the selvage edge if the woven area has been cut off.

Why do you care, you ask?  It's easier to block larger designs, especially things like wall hangings, if you orient the canvas properly.  In many designs, it's obvious which way is up (like a landscape), but if you are stitching on blank canvas or an abstract design that could be oriented in any direction, this will help you figure out which side is the top or bottom.

Breaking News: Kreinik Discontinues 026L

Kreinik just announced they can no longer get the materials to make Punchy Purple 026L.  So if you need some of this, pick it up now before Kreinik and your favorite shop run out.

This is their holographic purple.  The regular 026 is still available.  

By the way, Homestead Needle Arts says 012L (the holographic Lavender Tric) is also being discontinued for the same reason.  I don't see this listed by Kreinik anywhere but shop owners have more up-to-date information than us stitchers do. It's not listed on Kreinik's online metallic thread chart so it probably is gone, however.
