Yes, I did have a very large ivory background that I could tell I didn't have enough thread to cover. When I got the new thread it was a different dye lot and obviously not the same. What I did was using three ply thread I first used 1 ply of the new and 2 ply of the old then 2 ply of the new and 1 ply of the old and then 3 ply of the new. The transition is completely invisible.
