Well, you can tell that no one at Serendipity Needleworks pays any attention to Moi. Their newest monthly club information is on their blog, and the first canvas is a snowman ornament from Debbie Mumm/Melissa Shirley Designs. They call their club Home for the Holidays, and the Mumm ornaments feature stitch guides written by Julia Snyder. Obviously they haven't heard about Winter 2010 when I was trapped at home for a total of 28 days over three blizzards. No groceries, no mail, no leaving the house except to shovel the porch and walk the dogs. The photo above memorializes the Horror Of It All. I ran out of coffee....

Needlepoint.com has also caught the snowman madness with their monthly club. Where's the beach clubs?!?!??! Ok, Kirk and Hamilton have done darling "snow cones" but I want crabs and mermaids and sea horses! I'm with Nancy and can't wait to see what she finds at market.

Nancy, M's Canvas House has a fabulous Christmas ornament set that are all beachy! It's called A Beach Lover's Twelve Days of Christmas. Each is about 4 inches in diameter on 18 count canvas. They cost $50 retail and if you buy all twelve you get a discount bringing the total cost for the entire set to $550. I suppose they are from Elizabeth Turner Designs but they aren't on their website or on the M's website either. Good luck finding a beach set!

UPDATE: The Beach Lover's 12 Days set is going to be offered at Needle Orts (Altamonte Springs, FL). I'm told in the Comments they'll have an ad about the club in the upcoming issue of Needlepoint Now. Makes me happy. Nothing is on their website club page yet but stay tuned. Thanks, Anon!

Needle Orts (Altamonte Springs, FL) is doing the 12 Beachy Days of Christmas -- their club began last week in the shop. They have an ad about the club in the upcoming issue of Needlepoint Now -- towards the back of the magazine. Fun, fun, fun -- lots of fun happy stitches!
Alas, Stephanie, that is the house two winters ago. (Not right now, THANK YOU LORD!) You can see why snow is a four letter word here.
Anon, is that the series from M's Canvashouse with the Parrot Head canvas, the mermaid laying on the beach next to her radio, etc.? I LOVE THAT SERIES! Perfect for a sunny climate to stitch for Christmas. I'll watch for the ad. Thanks for the tip.
It is the same series, Debbie is doing stitch guides for each ornament, along with some elves. She brought them back from the last market as a must do!
Thanks for the info. I think it is a darling series, although I probably would only stitch a couple of them. I am short of time these days and would have to restrict myself but that Parrothead canvas is perfect for a family member!
Needle Orts is my stitching home. The beach 12 Days of Christmas is, indeed, by Elzabeth Turner. I saw the set of canvases when Debbie came back from market, and they're darling - so clever & with such bright colors. Sadly, my budget doesn't allow for them.
Thanks for the update, Cindy. The set is beyond my time and dollar budget, too, but perhaps we'll be able to stitch just one later on. Cross your fingers!
I was thinking that being snowbound for 28 days meant lots of stitching time and thought "that's not so awful". Then I read the last part and realized just how terrible it was for you - running out of coffee!?!

I liked the idea of the beachy 12 days when I read about it. I can't wait for Needle Orts to update their website.
I keep noticing two different Day of the Dead canvases. One has strawberry earrings, the other has half moons with starts. And different masks, dresses/serapes, etc. Which are you stitching?
Personally, I love all the seasons, snow included, but I was never snowed in for 3 weeks withouth (shudder) coffee! Oh my! And we couldn't have sent you any, since the mail wasn't being delivered. That is a true horror story.
Judy, which Day of Dead lady I'm stitching is a surprise. Not to worry, once my deadlines are over I'll Reveal All.
Actually, I only ran out of coffee about day 19. Never thought we'd have 3 feet of snow followed by two weeks that never got about freezing. Since we already had 2 feet of snow on the ground, it took forever to melt and since my driveway is steep, even the front loader wouldn't attempt to clear it. Too dangerous.
My next life I'm winning the lottery and heating my driveway!
Sharon, I was worried about running out of dog food and our food but I did clean out the pantry quite a bit. We had a lot of baked goods and from scratch cooking. The Internet and tv and lights and running water and heat never failed--THANK GOD--so it was just cabin fever we had to deal with. I missed getting mail but even if it had been delivered, I would not have been able to get to the mail box which is 3/5 of a mile away. Too far to go through snow almost as tall as me.
Wow! At least down here when it is so horribly hot we can still go to the store. You may sweat to a good soak, but you can go! Here's hoping the winter of 2012 is mild for you.
Thanks, Steph. That was a record snowfall. This year we got 3-4 inches of heavy, wet snow before Halloween that created quite a mess as it brought down trees and large limbs. There were 58 big tree limbs down between the bottom of our driveway and the main road 3 miles away. (I know--I counted!) Of course we had to clear one downed tree and three huge limbs off the driveway before I could even start counting! I'm hoping that was the worst we get this year.
