And Now A Word from Our Sponsor

I don't actually HAVE a sponsor but since Blog was created to a) show folks stitching painted canvases isn't that hard, and b) to promote the shops/designers/thread manufacturers/tool makers/authors who add spice to our lives, occasionally I stop and ask myself if Blog's still doing the job.  Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it is no.

This morning I thought I'd ask shop owners directly if things like the Canvas of the Day, the tab for trunk shows and sales, and the monthly clubs area help them.  Do you think folks visit your store after you have a mention on Blog?  It's a lot of work to update the Trunk Shows and Sales area each morning and to reorganize the Monthly Clubs section, not to mention having to find Canvas of the Day items from all over the Internet without repeating any one shop too often.  If it's not working, I'd like to know.  If you have any ideas about how I could improve Blog, I'd like to hear those, too.  You can leave a comment here or email me privately at chilly hollowathot maildotcom.  I won't quote you anywhere.  This is just to help me improve Blog.

In other topics, today starts the annual Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, so I have sharks on the brain and for the Canvas of the Day.  I absolutely adore the Shark tooth fairy pillow from Kathy Schenkel Designs but those Waterweave underwater shark designs are pretty amazing.  KSD also has a charming mini sock of sharks and a startled swimmer (second link).

Today is a big one for the fans of Dr. Who as the next Doctor will be revealed at 2 p.m. today on BBC America.   I know from my time stitching the Tardis for my niece that there are plenty of folks stitching designs from the series so I thought I should remind everyone of this television milestone for the series. By the way, looks like Rogue Needlepoint has heard all the pleas for a Dalek canvas.

Finally, last week was a busy one for the CH Stitch Guides blog and the Loretta Spears blog.  A lot of Loretta's work turned up on eBay, including a design I'd never seen before, and there was a lot of stitch guide news.  If you are a fan of Loretta Spears, click on the tab to find the link to that blog to read about the latest there.  If you haven't visited the CH Stitch Guides blog in a while, just click on the photo of the magic carpet in the right hand column here and you will be carried to that blog immediately.  When you are finished browsing, click on the magic carpet again and you'll be back at Blog.

And as always, thanks for showing up here daily.  It's nice to know other folks are as fascinated by needlepoint as I am.

Hi! This is Liz from Dragonflylotus Designs, and I certainly appreciate you linking to my monthly handspun thread clubs! I've had several people visit my site from yours :)

I'm happy to hear this, Liz. As a threadaholic I've looked and drooled myself but haven't bought. Shame on me!

Hi Jane - As a shopowner as well as a designer, I think your blog is terrific as is. I've recommended it to many customers as the best source of information for everything that is happening in "our world" and they have responded by ordering canvases and even traveling to attend classes in other states. I know it's hard for you to store a lot of photos, but I do miss the blow by blow on what you're stitching!

Thanks, Peggi! Sadly, most of my projects these days are Top Secret. Once I have the current one finished I will return to my Egyptian cat and my Leigh vampire. Please be patient, the end is in sight!

Which reminds me, I need to remove a bunch of photos from blog storage. I have used about half my allotment of space!

Personally, I liked it better when the blog was a daily accounting of your stitching -- how you were doing something and/or why. I learned a lot in the old days. Now, I suspect you are working harder and while I enjoy looking at other people's work, I feel like it is more advertisment/instruction than a place to learn and grow.

Thanks for the reply, Joan! I try to still post about my own stitching but it is more sporadic since I can't post about models for the trade shows. Those area secret. However, once the current trade show deadline is past, I'll be posting weekly about my progress on the Egyptian cat and a few other things. I just can't do that as often as in the past. Sorry! I haven't forgotten you, though. It is just less frequent.
