How timely! I happen to have a gingerbread boy & girl ornament pair in my stash (Elizabeth Turner, maybe?), under consideration for my little "cookies". Even have some JABCO buttons to embellish. Had considered using an overdyed & basketweave, but one of the suggested stitches would be more interesting.
You are obviously living right, Cindy! Do some test stitching and you'll soon see what seems to work best for your pair. I'd steer clear of an overdye, though. Real gingerbread is a solid color all over and if you want it to look like the real stuff, you'll do better with a solid in my opinion. Have fun playing with this!
You're absolutely right. I haven't kitted them up, but bought an overdyed called "Gingerbread" for something else, and it's pretty subtle in the variations. I do believe I'll find a similar solid color, though - maybe something matte.
A subtle overdye might work really well, but I like solids for cookies. Overdyes for the icing! LOL Happy New Year!
