The English Wildflower Basket is Underway

Brenda has started working on "English Wildflower Basket" from Kirk and Bradley, using Jinny Barney McAuliffe's stitch guide.

This is the finished product sticking to Jinny's guide.  I'll update this article as Brenda works on this piece which she plans to use as a teaching model for her ANG chapter.

You can see the three Pensioners designs plus the poppy here--

The Advent Calendar House

Colleen's Frame Station posted a fabulous piece of finishing on their Facebook page--a standup Advent calendar!  Use the side arrows to see a variety of views of this beauty.

It is really lovely.  I think that the canvas and the window magnetic pieces are designed by Kirk and Bradley but I also think it's a discontinued design.

More Poison Bottles!

If you are a fan of the Kirk and Bradley poison bottle series, Rittenhouse also has what they call spooky bottles which are similar.  These are available on either 13 or 18 count and the stoppers are separate.  I've not seen any of these finished but I bet they look wonderful.

New Travel Rounds from Kirk and Bradley

Kirk and Bradley have two new travel rounds for Colorado and Prague.  The company has quite a few of these designs available (all come with stitch guides and you can buy an optional thread kit) and have also done sporting destinations for those who like to ski or golf or horse racing.

The Back History of Needlepoint.com

I enjoyed this little walk down memorial lane, remembering and learning the history of Needlepoint.com, which is a shop, a distributor, and educator—and a center of needlepoint fun!

Tea Time

A friend and I were talking about tea cozies which are used a lot in the United Kingdom but are much rarer here in the USA. But there are some wonderful needlepoint designs meant for tea cozies. Here are the ones we found—

Janet Granger has some really darling miniature tea cozies meant to be stitched on silk gauze.
https://www.janetgranger.co.uk/product-category/teacosy-kits/

She's in the UK but you can buy from her Etsy store.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/179388816/miniatures-kit-dollhouse-miniatures?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=needlepoint+tea+cozy&ref=sr_gallery-1-27

If you are more into stitching painted canvases, how about these two from Ziva?
http://www.ziva-needlepoint-designs.com/shopping-for-tea-cosies.html

Or these from Needlepoint Inc.?  They are more expensive because they are double-sided with gussets.
https://needlepointinc.com/collections/tea-pot-cozies

Kirk and Bradley has several abstract designs that might appeal.
https://needlepoint.com/pages/search-results-page?q=tea+cozy

Ehrman has a classic rose tea cozy that is beautiful.  Since it is printed on 12 count canvas, it'll stitch up fast.

Let's drink (tea or coffee, your choice) to these!

Because It Is Halloween Today

Because it is Halloween today, I have a second treat—Sheena's Batwing Stitch AND Tess's Halloween display.

Needlepoint.com's A La Carte Retreat Report

I thought you'd love to hear about the annual retreat that Needlepoint.com holds each year.  This year the retreat was held in Raleigh close to Needlepoint.com's shop.  The canvases taught are from the Burnet and Bradley, Kirk and Bradley and Elizabeth Bradley lines, which are owned by the company that also owns the shop, by the way.  The designers are all different, so there is a lot of variety on offer and plenty of classes you can mix and match to suit your own desires.

Planning for the 2018 retreat is already underway.  Check Needlepoint.com's website for the latest information.

More Video Instruction on the Way

Virginia Barney, in conjunction with Needlepoint.com, is starting to add video instruction to various kits and stitch guides.  Jinny's Beard Class is just one of the first kits with guide to offer this.
http://stitchstyleblog.com/2016/05/santa-beard/

Needlepoint.com apparently also has video instruction with their "Sights and Scenes of London" kit.
http://stitchstyleblog.com/2016/05/santa-beard/

I haven't taken any of the new video classes but I know this will be particularly useful to those who learn best from seeing a stitch demonstrated--and this will be accessed from the comforts of your favorite stitching nest!

Market Favorites from Ginny

Ginny went to Market with the Needlepoint.com shop and distribution staff (they handle Elizabeth Bradley, Kirk and Bradley and A Collection of Designs, now renamed Burnett and Bradley) and posts about her favorites among all the wonderful things there.

Paris Ornaments

Given the latest terrorist attack in Paris, you may wish to needlepoint Paris as a remembrance of those who were killed by evil men. Besides today's canvas of the day, there is a Silver Needle ornament on eBay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Needle-PARIS-FRANCE-handpainted-4-25-Needlepoint-Canvas-Ornament-/371198623002

Kirk and Bradley have a similar sized round ornament.

I think Trubey's is particularly elegant.
https://needlepointus.com/proddetail.asp?prod=FLTDOR06&cat=101

Alice Peterson has two charmers, one small and one large.

I'm sure there are many more for the stitcher who wishes to remember and honor those who died with their needle art.

Breaking News: A Collection of Designs Sold

Apparently Janet Burnett of A Collection of Designs has sold her company to the conglomerate that owns Needlepoint.com, Kirk and Hamilton, and Elizabeth Bradley Designs. I'm told the new entity is being referred to as Kirk and Bradley and Burnett in advertising, but on the ACOD website it is called Burnett and Bradley.

Cutest Fobs Ever

Virginia from Enriched Stitch is on the road with her husband, getting settled into his new posting. While they drive, she stitches on the cutest scissor fob design from Kirk and Bradley imaginable!

Virginia Goes NC

Virginia's been on a road trip to North Carolina.  Naturally, she made sure she made lots of needlepoint-related stops!  First she visited the offices of Kirk and Bradley/Elizabeth Bradley, then she went to Needlepoint.com.
