Sally Baer of BB Needlepoint demonstrated how to ruche Kreinik ribbon (she used the holographic gold) to make flower centers for a stocking from her line. Doesn't get any easier or prettier than this!

In the video, she says she used #12, which is a braid, not a ribbon. They've labeled the video wrong? It makes more sense if it's a ribbon, but I supposed you could do it with a #12 braid.
I thought it was the 1/16 inch ribbon myself and just a typo. Although you can ruche the braid if you are determined! I've done that myself. It's not as bunched as the flat ribbon will get but it works.
