Stitch of the Month Projects on Display

SOTM 2002 "Berryville" by Carole Lake
With ANG's Stitch of the Month (SOTM) project starting for 2012, it is appropriate that folks are posting photographs of their finished SOTM projects for 2010 and 2011.  This is what Liz did for 2011--

Melita just got her 2010 project framed.  I think it is very interesting that both women went with neutrals like black, brown and gray.   I think their color choices make the stitches the star of the show, not the colors.

Here is Gemma's 2011 project.  I think she used the original colors that the designer Ro Pace choose.

If you aren't familiar with the American Needlepoint Guild's SOTM program, check out their website.

ANG started the SOTM program in 1998.  Each year's stitches and project are still available for your stitching pleasure.  My very favorite is Berryville (shown above).  Did you know the project name is a joke?  Carole Lake named her contribution Berryville because it contains the Chilly Hollow stitch.  Why is that funny?  The CH Stitch was named for me and I live in Berryville!  I find that hilarious.  You might think I am prejudiced to like Berryville best until you see how pretty Berryville is all stitched up.

What is Needlepoint? 2010 Version

ANG has updated the What is Needlepoint? page on their site with information from the 2010 exhibit.  You can see and read about award winning stitching there.  I'm including the link to all the series in case you haven't seen them.  Choose the year you are interested and click.

I am hoping 2009 will be posted one day but it sounds like that is not going to happen.  However, I am very glad the ugly ANG logo isn't plastered all over these photos.  I found it very distracting in previous years where it always seemed to cover an area I wanted to look at.

Callaway 2010 Website Up

The Callaway Gardens Needle Arts 2010 website is up. The classes are listed under the Course Description tab but I'd encourage you to look at all the sections as the header for each is a close up from various lovely stitched models.

Susanne and Colleen Do My Job

My job as Master Enabler is being ably filled by Susanne and Colleen today.  First of all, Susanne emailed me to remind me to tell everyone that ANG has put photographs of the 2010 Seminar Classes up on their websites.  Only the photos are there, not any class information, but we'll all have fun looking anyway.

Colleen of Needle Works in Austin has added new photos to her blog so we can see what Maggie, Melissa Shirley, and Needlepoint of Back Bay brought to Market.  Remember Colleen's 20% offer on everything she posts photos of and email her before Monday night to order.

Thanks for doing such a great job in tempting us, ladies!

By the way, the blue geometric is "In the Mood Blue" by Marnie Ritter (to be taught in Columbus in 2010) and the elegant witch is a Halloween piece by Melissa Shirley.
