Breaking News: Wellesley Needlepoint's New Online Store

Wellesley Needlepoint just announced their online shop is open for business.  As they are the distributor for Annie Lane,  Julie Paukert, Sea Breeze and The Wellesley Needlepoint Collection, this is very good news!  This is also a good place to shop for Boston and Cape Cod-theemed canvases.

More TNNA Trade Show Trends

Since I posted about trends I've noticed at the Phoenix show, I got several emails from friends. Sheena thinks penguins are in more and more designs.  Julie says she has noticed many of the designs have large areas to stitch, thus affording more room for decorative stitching and fibers that take up more space. Also she sees more cartoonish designs.

What have YOU noticed?

Who Paints Canvases from Photographs? UPDATED

People are always looking for recommendations for artists who will transfer a photograph to a needlepoint canvas. After all, there are special places, people or animals we'd like to stitch if only....

This came up on Facebook's needlepoint group.  Listed below are the shops and companies folks recommended.  Some paint by hand, some use transfer printers.  You'll have to follow up with each for samples of their work and pricing.  I have no personal experience with any of these folks so I can't tell you who does the best work.  These are recommendations from customers or postings from folks who offered their services.

The Sampler Collector UPDATED

Carolyn Hedge Baird takes us on a tour of her sampler collection and those of her friends, ranging from old samplers on linen to modern painted needlepoint versions.  This inspired me to go looking for painted canvas versions of samplers, both vintage and modern.

It's Fall, Isn't It?

It certainly is football season in the new Patriots football stadium canvas above by Julie Paukert which she designed for Wellesley Needlepoint. This isn't the first Boston-related sports canvas she has done for them. Check out Fenway Park here!

Then roam around the Wellesley NP website. Pay particular attention to other pages in their Exclusive Designs for their Boston Xmas train, the tree panel with Boston themes, etc. No other shop does such a nice job with exclusive regional designs unless it is some of the Arizona ones like The West, the Busy Needle, and Quail Run.

Hope everyone enjoys a virtual trip via needlepoint to The East Coast and The Old West! And go Pats!
