The BBC has discovered that needlepoint is popular.

If you are curious about Hunt and Hope or just want to browse their already stitched pillows, luggage tags and stockings, here's their website.

RSN's Stitch Bank Book

The Royal School of Needlework in England has published a book based on their RSN Stitch Bank, an online database of what they call "essential embroidery stitches."

The database (link below) currently has 450 stitches in it.  The book covers 200 of these.

Pulled Thread Wings

Ruth Schmuff is working on her Fall Mystery Class at Bedecked and Beadazzled.   The class is Winter Flying Fairy, by Lulu My Pink Turtle.

Besides all the fun stuff, Ruth has created pulled stitch wings.  Want to learn how she did it?  Visit this YouTube video.  As always, Ruth makes it easy to understand.

The Royal School of Needlework's Stitch Bank has quite a few examples of Pulled Thread Stitches for you to browse.  Note that some are eyelets, not what we think of Pulled Thread, and some will look different on needlepoint canvas than on the linen ground material the examples are on.

Royal School of Needlework Launches the Stitch Bank

The Royal School of Needlework is launching their Stitch Bank today!  Here is the announcement.  Note that there are still stitches needing sponsors, so if you would like to help support the project, there is a link.

The Stitch Bank will start out with information about 150 stitches, to celebrate the Royal School's 150 years.  There will be written instructions, photos, and videos to teach you new stitches or help you review old ones.  I suspect most stitches will be on linen but needlepointers can adapt many by switching to a sharp needle to put the stitch exactly where you want it on needlepoint canvas.

If you want to help with this effort, RSN would love donations.

Here's how to donate.

And here's a list of sponsors who have helped the Stitch Bank become a reality.

Happy Birthday, Royal School!  Here's to 150 more years of stitching excitement.
