Breaking News: Tess and Thorn Break Up UPDATED

Tess and Thorn have announced their needlepoint design company has evolved into two different companies: Brooke Thorn McGowan is now thorn alexander while Tess Nagle is now Tess Kvale at Pewter and Pine Needlepoint Design.  I haven't found websites yet but it's early to have all that set up.

UPDATE:  Pewter and Pine Needlepoint Design has a Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/pewterandpine/

I wish both designers great success as they grown and change.

Parade Magazine Discovers Needlepoint

The online version of Parade magazine has discovered needlepoint.
http://parade.com/529660/kellydinardo/photos-needlepoint-not-just-for-grannies-anymore/

The link at the bottom (Launch Slideshow) of the article shows off commercial products from companies like Smathers and Branson.  Very plain and basic stuff, but at least they noticed.

How To Explain Why You Needlepoint To That Idiot

Read this in case you need ideas on how to explain why you needlepoint to that moron who keeps asking.  Instead of beating them over the head with a stylish needlepoint tote and screaming, I mean.

DO NOT stab them with the tekobari.  I do not advocate violence, even though I am often tempted....

Gucci or Tess & Thorn?

Tess &Thorn talk about the endless question--couture or custom?
http://www.tessandthorn.com/from-the-studio/2016/04/04/chapter-two

Personally I wouldn't pay for couture--I'd stitch my own.  Even the bag finishing is going to cost much less than a Gucci handbag.

Stitching to Netflix UPDATED AGAIN

Lycette Designs has started a series on her blog about Netflix series she likes to stitch to.
http://lycettedesigns.com/netflix-needlepoint/#more-236

This is a hard question for me as I like to watch a lot of things on Netflix but not all are suitable for stitch-a-longs.  The ideal program is an old favorite (Numb3rs, Poirot, Personal of Interest, Lie to Me,  Galaxy Quest, Groundhog Day, Leverage, Bones, Star Trek, Firefly, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) where I don't have to continuously watch the screen to keep up with the action, but can listen while my eyes are on my stitching.

P.S.  Click on "Gallery" to see Lycette's needlepoint canvases.

UPDATE:  Stitch to Gilmore Girls--and avoid morphine.

UPDATE #2: More bing watching ideas, this time from Tess & Thorn.

Sassy and Soul Are In

There're new needlepoint designers in town--the first is Lycette Designs Needlepoint.  The company, run by Jessica Chaney, specializes in what Jessica describes as "colorful, cheeky" needlepoint.

I just found Tess and Thorn, who specialize in "soul stitching."  This is a collaboration between Brooke McGowan and Tess Nagel.  They have an Etsy shop (second link below).

Good luck to all the new talent!  We can't wait to see what you do next!
