Since the roof and spire of Notre Dame Cathederal burned this week, folks have been looking for canvases to commemorate the cathedral as it was. Bucherie in Paris has several small pieces and one large canvas.
http://bucherie.com/products.asp?cat=34
Sally Corey has one as well.

If you are a fan of counted canvaswork, Threedles has "Cathedral" in the Notre Dame color way.
https://threedles.com/04012016/Frames/threedles_frameset.html
Now Abigail Cecile has gifted us all a line drawing of the current profile of the cathedral. Go to her website on your laptop or desktop (link below), put your cursor on the middle of the image, then holding the cursor down, drag the image off her website and to your desktop. There's a link to her explanation on how to transfer this to needlepoint canvas here as well.

Thanks, Abby!
UPDATE: Alice Peterson is providing a printed outline Notre Dame canvas.

By the way, Tricia Nguyen of Thistle Threads was right there when Notre Dame started burning if you need a good photo of how it was when choosing colors for your version.

UPDATE #2: Deux Amis has a new large Cathedral of Notre Dame canvas.

Santas on Parade
Brenda has stitched quite a few of the Janet Zigler Casey Santas and shows the finished ones off on her blog. It's a fun way to celebrate Christmas!

These Santas were originally line drawn canvases, taught at various Seminars. Danji is starting to produce them as painted canvases that each come with Janet's stitch guide.

The originals are probably still available through Janet Casey's website.

The Pilot Frixion Erasable Gel Pen
I thought folks who like to draw their own designs and then have the lines disappear would like to hear what Helen has to say about Pilot's Frixion erasable pens. Heat erases the lines and cold brings them back. Helen mostly does Japanese Embroidery so she is using her pen on fabrics, not needlepoint canvas, so I cannot say whether they work well or not for needlepointers.

On the other hand, they seem to be readily available, come in many colors (even metallics), so the mad scientists among us might want to experiment. Just let us know what you think, ok?

ReallyColor.com is a website where you can turn any photograph into a line drawing. The first photo translated into a coloring book type line drawing is free. It appears after that you have to buy credits to do more images. Read the FAQ page for more information on how this works.
https://www.reallycolor.com
This is perfect for those who want a line drawing of their house to stitch but there are many other uses, too. Many thanks to Tricia Nguyen of Thistle Threads for mentioning this.

Tips for using Water Soluble Pens
Labels:
DMC,
line drawn,
water soluble pens
I use blue marking pens on my canvases quite often but they do have drawbacks. I've had blue pen lines never vanish at all and I've had them disappear overnight. It all depends on the weather and humidity, I think. Read the labels, too. Some pens are removed by water and set by heat, so you need to be careful in the heat of summer where you leave your stitching. If it falls into the pool or gets baked by the sun while waiting for you in a hot car, you are not going to be happy.
DMC sells water soluble pens and has posted tips on getting the most out of their brand. It's worth a read if you ever plan to use these.

Mary Corbet has discovered a terrific portable tracing light pad, perfect for her embroidery needs. Many of us won't be tracing onto embroidery fabric but I bet a few of us might find this very useful in our stitching.
