A Floor Stand from Hearthside Craftworks

If you want a new floor stand from Santa, you might enjoy this photo of the Hearthside Craftworks floor stand.  Note that the floor stand comes with a scroll frame but you can use other brands of scroll frames apparently.

You can see a video review here to help you decide if this will work for you.

This is a Canadian company under new ownership that also makes lap stands.

By the way, Millennium Frames (sold by a UK company) are available here.  There used to be a very long wait as these are hand made by a family firm.  The website says 16 weeks but we don't know how up to date that estimate is.  People love Millennium frames but you are going to wait to get yours.

Ten Reasons to Use a Tapestry Frame

What's a tapestry frame?  In the United States we call them scroll frames.  Jolly Red is a UK company that sells needlepoint (tapestry if you are British) kits and they also do finishing, so they have a strong interest in the pieces they finish being square.  They sell tapestry frames, too.

By the way, Bush Tucker Trials appear to be challenges involving eating bugs.  I'd hide behind my scroll frame during those, too!

Fried grasshoppers dipped in chocolate, anyone?

Do Scroll Frames Annoy You?

If you need to use a scroll frame for a project and you hate sewing the canvas to the tapes at the top and bottom, you might want to look into the tapestry clip frames that Jolly Red sells in the UK.

The frames have to be assembled but the canvas just clips into the top and bottom rails.  Ask Jolly Red if you need more information on how these work.

A Useful Tip For Stitching Belts on Scroll Frames

Steve's been stitching belts on a scroll frame and realized adding strips of quilt batting helps keep the rolled sections tight.

Very clever, Steve!

BREAKING NEWS: EZ Stitch Scroll Frames Maker Closing

American Dream Products, the maker of EZ Stitch scroll frames, is going to close. Needle in a Haystack put out a news flash so their customers who use this frame brand can stock up.
http://needlestack.typepad.com/whats_new/2017/06/american-dream-products-ez-stitch-to-close.html

I personally loathe and despise scroll frames for needlepoint, but that's just my opinion. It's a perfectly good product.  So if you use these or want to, act now.

Many thanks to NIAH for the alert.

A New Scroll Frame From American Dream Products

Thanks to the Needlework Retailer, I know that American Dream Products has introduced two new scroll frames.
http://yarntree.typepad.com/needlework_news/2014/10/value-scroll-frames.html

I don't like scroll frames myself for needlepoint canvas, but many folks swear by them.  If you do lots of stitching on linen as well as needlepoint canvas, a scroll frame is probably something you will be very interested in.  Here is the American Dream Products website so you can do a little more browsing.  They make floor frames, table frames and frames for your lap, carry accessories and also sell Ott lights and replacement bulbs.  Something for everyone, in other words.
