May 2026 NJNA Chapter News

The New Jersey Needle Artists chapter of ANG is back with their bi-weekly newsletter.  There is ANG Seminar news, including the adorable frame weights that are available.  Lowry has a new gadget that attaches to your floor stand to allow you to watch your tablet, laptop or phone as you stitch.  They also have a new spring green color for those who want more excitement in their life.  Daylight also has a new light that goes around your neck and shows true color.  It is called the DuoNeck Go.

You'll want to check out the Fraymeworks Frames, sold by Needlepoint Clubhouse, that work as stretcher bars and a frame for the finished piece both.

The second May posting is up with new bags, threads, classes, and more!

Stitching with Both Hands: The Movie

Spellbound Stitchery demonstrates stitching with both hands.

Note that this has to be done with either a floor frame or with a frame weight or clamps holding your frame on the edge of a table so enough sticks out for you to stitch.  Tony Minieri cautions stitchers to not touch their stitching with their hands as well.  In other words, it takes some practice but once you get used to it, your speed is much faster.

End of the Year for NJNA

By the time this publishes it'll be 2026, but the New Jersey Needle Artists Chapter of ANG newsletters are timeless!

As usual there is lots of ANG news, plus they let us know about a new, light weight needlework stand called Miraneks.  It looks like it was meant for cross stitch and won't hold a big project or maybe even Evertites, but it looks very good for travel.

By the way, if you are interested in highlighter tape, shop around.  It's available a lot of places but the prices vary wildly.

Thoughts on Choosing a Needlework Stand

Debbie Rowley of DebBee's Designs has posted an essay about choosing a stand for your needlepoint.

It's very helpful, with plenty of tips about what to look for.

Lowry Frame Accessories and the Floss Queen's Stitching Tray

Thanks to the New Jersey Needle Artists folks, I have news about Lowry frame accessories.  There is a care kit to stop the squeeking, you can buy an attachment to turn the floor stand into a table stand, plus they have a lovely stitching cabinet that the Lowry fits inside.  You both have the floor frame mostly hidden plus more storage for your stitching supplies.

Needle in a Haystack's owner (aka The Floss Queen) has a wonderful stitching tools organizer tray, available in two sizes and a range of colors.  It's acrylic so you won't break it if it falls on the floor when hit by your dog's tail.  All the details are here so scroll down to browse.

The right tools make our stitching so much easier!

Hands Free Video

If you've been curious about the K's metal floor frame, the Needlepointer has a three minute video showing you how it works. The adjustments are endless. I love mine! Hint: You can put the plate under a chair or table leg for more stability or you can put a brick or other sort of weight on it. Mine is very stable but if you move it a lot to constantly get up and down, you might want the extra security of something on the plate.

Breaking News: Lowery Workstands Have Colors

I just discovered that the Lowery floor stands now are available in color! Joanne has a violet one.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2006509182902865&set=gm.1699102623500222&type=3&theater&ifg=1

The UK company's blog shows off yellow and red.
https://www.workstands.com/single-post/2017/11/21/A-splash-of-colour

Their website has a rainbow arrangement of colors!  I think I might be a Candice girl myself.  What about you?

By the way, people with the stands say the original stainless steel stands are heavier and cost more than the colored ones.  You may need to put a weight or the leg of your stitching chair on both versions if you stitch large pieces.

The Just A Thought Floor Frame

Judy Odell's Just A Thought (JAT) floor stand holds your stitching on top of the side arms.  For those who just like picking up and putting down their stitching, this might be a good option.  I think these are called trestle style frames.  The framed stitching just rests on top.

Judy also sells a lap stand for those who prefer that style of frame.  You hold it steady by sitting on it.

Repairing the K's Floor Stand

Brenda had a problem with her K's floor stand, contacted the company and had a fix right away. She thinks her problem was caused by "stitching in the well" which means she mounts her stretcher bars on top of her canvas, not on the bottom, and she has a fix to keep the problem from happening again.  Clever!

Beautiful Wooden Stands

I just stumbled across this website of a small company that makes beautiful wooden needlepoint table and floor frames. I know nothing about Needlepoint Stands as a company but the frames are beautiful.
