Need Spiky Hair?

Rebecca has a great idea about how to make spiky hair for a needlepoint portrait--use knitting yarn!  Very clever.

She's using something called Haute Fur from Yarn Bee, which she found at Hobby Lobby.  I found it on their website on sale in gray and lime.

I also found it easily available on Etsy.

Plaited Wool UPDATED with Plaited Floche

One of the re-enactors at Historic Williamsburg (she is doing tambour embroidery) plaits her crewel wool to keep it tidy until she needs it. Then she just pulls a strand from the braid.  Use the side arrows to see more, including her tool box and needlepoint.

UPDATE: Mary Corbet does something similar with a skein of DMC floche.
