Orna Willis just created a silk gauze design and sent it off to Rome where it will be part of an exhibit of miniature artwork. Congratulations! I think this is an important step in making folks aware that needle art is ART.

Orna also created the frame for this beauty. In this blog entry she talks about how she did it. It's very clever and something that all of us could do for a special piece, no matter the size.

Apparently the exhibit ends March 18. It is at Temple University in Rome in the Temple Rome Gallery.

When Needlepoint Isn't Period
Labels:

Not every period of history upholstered chairs with needlepoint, even though we tend to think of it as an older style. I thought you'd like to read about the transformation of a needlepoint chair into a leather-covered one to make it more authentic for the museum where it lives. And yes! They saved the needlepoint!
