The Needlework Copyright Information blog has posted a useful diagram of tips on how to know you are visiting an illegal pattern sharing site. Although the blog talks more about cross stitch charts, the same things apply to stitch guides, stitch diagrams and counted canvaswork charts. Don't be a copyright thief--follow these common sense guidelines.

Building the Commander's Palace
Labels:

Boots and Beads is stitching a needlepoint representation of the Commander's Palace Restaurant in New Orleans. Because she is so inventive in her stitch choices, I thought you'd like to see what she uses for architectural stitching. Here is a bit about the place in case you've never been to NO.

Love the roof stitch and the padded pillars!
http://bootsandbeads.blogspot.com/2015/07/half-way-there.html
Here's the pretty painted wood siding.
http://bootsandbeads.blogspot.com/2015/07/almost-there.html
All done! This is a small piece but action-packed with a lot of fun touches that I hope will inspire you to stitch a small building ornament of your very own.

A Finishing and Custom Design Alert
The recent closing of a shop in New York has stranding canvases several places. If you are a stitcher, look at this photograph.
West Coast Finishing has had this peace sign design for several months and doesn't know who it belongs to. They would like to return it to its owner.
Devon Nicholson Designs created this original design and doesn't know who commissioned it. Is this Sophie piece yours?
If you are a finisher, check out this tallis bag photograph. The person who designed and stitched it is desperate to locate it but they don't know which finisher it was sent to.
All these photographs were posted to Facebook in the hopes that someone would recognize them. If you do, please either email me at chillyhollow@hotmail.com or leave a comment below and I'll put you in touch with the person who owns or has custody of them. Thank you!

Bedecked and Beaddazzled makes a point of having a Zecca retreat each October, featuring a design made by Zecca just for the shop as the stitching focus. This year they have a wonderful gecko and reptile design. If you are free October 10-11, you might want to head to the Baltimore suburbs....

Here is the design they did for the October 2014 retreat, now available in kit form. Ruth and Karen Hennessey of Zecca make magic, don't they?
