How to Finish a Yarmulke

Needle Paint has a fun article on their blog that explains how to finish a yarmulke. I'm not Jewish but I bet this idea could be adapted for a little needlepoint cap for a teddy bear. It's also just interesting to see how the round cap is created out of a flat needlepoint canvas. I particularly like the idea of using bias tape around the edge to create a smooth finish that won't catch hair when worn.

Labels:
news,
Tony Minieri
Tony Minieri posted this message to Facebook on October 7, 2018. We are thinking good thoughts and hoping that in about six months, he'll be better than ever!
To all my students.
I am so sorry I will not be able to teach for the rest of this year.
On October 15,2018 I am going in for a hip replacement surgery.
The recuperation period is approximately 3 months after surgery.
Once my recuperation period is over, I will resume my travel and teaching schedule as best I can.
Thank you all for your understanding , I will miss you all
Until then,
Happy Stitching!
Love,
Tony
UPDATE: Surgery was briefly postponed. Here's the latest.
Tony update!
As you all know his Hip replacement surgery was postponed.
A new date has been set for November 26!
Fingers crossed all will continue as planned!
Thank you all for all your concerns. Will keep you posted as we approach surgery & recovery.
Happy stitching!
Love Tony

A Sneak Peak At Genius

news
Check out this work-in-progress piece by Kaffe Fassett. I think these are circus tents. Note that he doesn't use a frame, works all in tapestry wool, and uses the scoop method to stitch instead of going up and down.

Design genius he definitely is but having seen some of his work in person, it's not technically perfect. But the colors he uses and the patterns he creates are amazing.
There's a lesson for us regular stitchers here somewhere.

Back in August Kimberly's needlepoint and paintings were on display at a local art gallery in Lakeland, Florida. Kimberly was kind enough to do a video for us to see. It's wonderful to see the same themes repeated in needlepoint that she uses in her paintings.
