Erin is exploring opening an online version of her real shop and discovering all the hidden costs.
http://needlepointland.com/2014/06/06/seller-beware/
Please note the costs aren't just for the seller, the buyer gives up a little privacy in order to get the convenience. This is yet another reason to patronize that little needlepoint shop in the next town--they are not being forced by the Online Mafia to hand over your shopping information so the Online Mafia can sell other stuff to you than what you wanted to buy.
Just things to ponder.
Hug your shop owner the next time you visit. The things they put up with!

hi Jane tx for posting the link! This post is of course satirical. I exaggerated a few things, and adopted just for laughs the voice/tone of the late Gloria Foster in The Matrix (as the Oracle in the kitchen scene). btw I have put on hold the eCommerce version of my store for now, as some of the problems that came up during testing precluded my giving this online vendor the Needlepoint Land seal of approval. Most of them r pretty much the same, more or less, though. The thing these online bazaars can never do is personally interact with a needlepoint customer in terms of thread selection, etc, as I show in my latest post about a valued customer's experience stitching the Wheel of Time mandala..
My pleasure. I think your satire exposes a serious problem with online shopping--it undermines the little shop around the corner. Of course many of us do not have such a thing, but if we do, they aren't sharing our personal information all over the Internet.
It is an issue for everything online. Sad to say. I love your Amaryllis!
Thanks. I had heard amaryllis bulbs never bloom again once you buy them at Christmas but this one spent two summers outside in shaded sun and two winters in a cool (cold last winter) garage with much less sun. Apparently that is just what it likes.
I have always left mine in the pot, put it in the garage and it has come back for many years!
