Hi Jane, this didn't seem appropriate for Needlepoint Nation/FB but this artist's work looks intriguing. Gabriel Dawe hangs strands (by the thousand) of colorful embroidery thread and then lights them in installations for museums/public spaces. They are magical and meditative. He has an exhibition at the Renwick in DC (americanart.si.edu/renwick) and images can be found on his Facebook page, etc. Perhaps of interest to DC area stitchers.
