Mario Bautta Auction UPDATED

Horse Country Chic has alerted us to the auction of Mario Buatta's estate next week, which will include his needlepoint pillows.

His chintz fabrics were Must Haves in the 1980s and I think his style will come back again.  Sotheby's is holding the auction.  You can browse the two part catalogue online but the auction items will be on display in Manhattan before the sale if you are in the area.

UPDATE #2:  A second auction of Mario Buatta's estate is scheduled for March 13-14, 2020.  There are a few pillows and quite a few framed needlepoint designs, particularly of dogs.

Betty Ring's Volumes and Sale Catalogue Online

If you are a sampler person, you'll want to check out the items that Sotheby's has put online for your viewing pleasure as they promote their sale of Betty Ring's sampler collection.  The first is their catalogue for the sale.  It's not as long or as scholarly as I'd like myself, but at least you can get some idea of some of the pieces she collected and wrote about.

They have also put both volumes of her Childhood Embroideries online.  Now THAT'S a present any sampler lover will enjoy for the holidays!

I have no idea how long these valuable research tools will be available, so take the time to  visit these sites while you can.
