Removing Creases from Needlepoint Canvas: The Movie

Penny Linn has posted a video on their Facebook page explaining how to get creases out of needlepoint canvas.

To summarize for those who don't have a FB account, get a clean white towel, put the canvas down on top of the towel near an edge, then fold over the towel to make a sandwich of towel-canvas-towel.  Use an iron on the cotton/wool setting and press down on the towel.  Go over the entire canvas area with the iron.  You may have to do this several times.  They don't mention using steam, but you can, although it softens the canvas threads slightly so the piece is no longer quite as stiff.  Probably better to just use pretty high heat on your iron.

Laundry Day with Kreinik!

Today is laundry day over at the Kreinik blog. You can learn about washing Kreinik and ironing it safely.  The blog doesn't mention using flat irons for hair to straighten out the curls Kreinik's metallics have from being on spools but I know quite a few folks who have done this successfully so it should be safe.

By the way, the two threads Kreinik says may run when washed are red and blue.  I was curious and looked it up.

It's a Miracle! (With Music)

This morning was livened up by Robin's video demonstrating her flat iron technique for straightening Neon Rays.  See the thread with the bends from being wrapped around the card?  See the flat iron for straightening your hair?  See what happens when you combine the two?  Magic!
