ANG's 2022 National Seminar Report

I know it's a bit late, but things can get hectic, you know?  Here's the fun Mary, the Sun City Stitcher. had at the 2022 ANG Seminar in Tucson, Arizona.  I'll update this as more is posted so you can enjoy everything.

Piloting Wishful Thinking

National Seminar classes have to have a test run before the class is actually held at the ANG or EGA seminars. These are called pilot classes and they are often held at local chapters so the teacher has a chance to do a run-through of the class and have extra eyes checking the instructions.  Recently some of the New Jersey Needle Arts chapter of ANG members went to California to take a pilot class from Ann Strite-Kurz.

If you aren't familiar with Ann's charted designs, have fun checking out her website.

Puffins with Ann

Rosie of the NJNA chapter of ANG recently took an Ann Strite-Kurz pilot class through the San chapter of ANG.  It sounds fascinating!

Here's Ann's Razzle-Dazzle, by the way.  You can see why Rosie and her stitching buddies were enchanted!

If you want to see more of Ann's work, here is her website.  The books (I highly recommend all of them but Backgrounds and The Science of Canvas Embroidery are my favorites) are listed in the top three rows while Ann's charts are the other rows.

If you subscribe to Needlepoint Now magazine, you've seen Ann's column on using common stitches in uncommon ways.  She's a true original when it comes to her creations and a master of hiding thread paths on the back of open patterns.

Ann's "Posh Pansy Petals" is ANG's upcoming Workshop by Mail if you want to to studying couching with a master.

If You Always Wanted to Be a Pilot Stitcher,

then Terry Dryden wants to talk to you.

Pilot stitchers are people who test drive class instructions. Normally teachers look for a guild willing to try out a class project in order to find problems and areas that need more explanation in their instructions. Terry talks about the process on her blog and is also recruiting pilot stitchers.
