Needlepoint Now magazine is coming out with a book called Stitch School!  I haven't seen it yet since as I write this it's not out yet but apparently there are matching videos for those who are visual learners.

My Beading Heart (Nancy Cucci)

Brenda's Needlepoint Studio worked another Nancy Cucci chart, this one called "My Beading Heart."  It's very pretty and like all Nancy's designs, has lots of beads and sparkle that don't show up in photographs.  Brenda also learned how to cover white canvas with paint while working this, a useful skill!

Another Cute Leaf Idea UPDATED

The Needlepoint Nook shows off a customer's idea for displaying her leaves from Kam Wenzloff's leaf wreath featured in Needlepoint Now magazine in 2023.

Needlepoint Now Limits Corrections to Current Issue

Needlepoint Now magazine is now listing corrections on their website.  For the current issue, click on Shop in the header on the home page, then Current Issue in the drop down menu.  Any corrections will be listed at the bottom of this page.

Unfortunately corrections to previous issues don't seem to be listed anywhere on their website.  So check the website for the current issue before it is superseded to look for corrections.

It is possible that if you bought the digital issues you might find corrections in that section but I can't check that since I prefer a hard copy edition.  I've asked the magazine staff for help finding past corrections.  I'll post their replay here when I receive it.

A Clever Use of Kam Wenzloff's Layers of Leaves

Have you noticed Kam Wenzloff's "Layers of Leaves" wreath design in Needlepoint Now magazine? You can see Kam's completed project on the back side of the January/February 2023 issue.

Mari had a large Charley Harper painted canvas with tons of leaves on it, so she decided to use the leaf stitches Kam designed for her counted canvaswork wreath on the leaves Charley designed.  Here is how it turned out--

Finishing Kit for All Those Leaves (and More)

The first standout bit of information for me are the fact that Stitched Up Needlework is selling finishing kits for Needlepoint Now's "Layers of Leaves."  The kit has enough supplies to finish 10 leaves.  The newsletter gives contact information as Stitched Up Needlework's website isn't working yet.  They are a brand new shop in California.

I also love the Tip of the Month--add a length of each thread you use to the bottom of your project so you have what you need to finish a missed stitch.  

It's a fun read, as always!

Finishing Leaves with a Wired Edge: The Movie

Kelly of Start Art Designs just posted a free video demonstrating how to finish leaves with a wired edge.

This is particularly interesting given how many folks are stitching the Kam Wenzloff leaf wreath from Needlepoint Now magazine.  It's a long video but shows everything you need to do if you want leaves you can bend into position.  By the way, the list of supplies Kelly mentions is on her website here.  Note that I think you want to use the thinner interfacing, not the extra firm interfacing.  This allows the leaf to be more bendable.

Blisters Needlepoint has back issues of Needlepoint Now for sale on their website.

Needlepoint Now Offers Digital Subscriptions

Needlepoint Now magazine has just announced digital subscriptions are available.  Check their website under "Subscribe" to see the options, which include a regular magazine, a digital issue and a combination magazine/digital issue.  Note that new subscribers and international subscribers have different costs than domestic subscribers.  You can also buy a single digital issue but likely this is just for 2023 issues going forward.

BREAKING NEWS: Needlepoint Now Has New Owners/Editors

Elizabeth Bozievich, the owner and editor of Needlepoint Now magazine, just announced on Facebook that she is retiring.  The November/December 2022 issue will be her last.  The new owners are Andrea Santiamo, her daughter Marisa Santiamo and their close friend Karen Sanicola.

We wish Elizabeth a fun retirement with plenty of stitching time and welcome Andrea, Marisa and Karen to the magazine.

A Living Treasure: Elizabeth Bozevich

The National Academy of Needlearts (NAN) occasionally gives the Living Treasure Award to people who have contributed mightily behind the scenes at the organization.  This year the award has been given to Elizabeth Bozevich, who belongs to NAN and gives her expertise to the organization.
