Lampwork Beads from Grace Ma

I like lampwork beads. They are very very decorative, even when they are not made by the amazing Grace Ma.  But when they are, they are lovely art.

Most of the big online bead stores sell Grace Beads in case you need the perfect embellishment.

Hands Free Video

If you've been curious about the K's metal floor frame, the Needlepointer has a three minute video showing you how it works. The adjustments are endless. I love mine! Hint: You can put the plate under a chair or table leg for more stability or you can put a brick or other sort of weight on it. Mine is very stable but if you move it a lot to constantly get up and down, you might want the extra security of something on the plate.

How to Pad a Strawberry with Felt

Anna Scott does a lot of embroidery, especially crewel, and was kind enough to explain how she created padded strawberries using felt in her latest blog posting.  It gives a very dimensional berry, something that needlepointers might want on one of their pieces.  Note her tips on attaching the felt layers in particular and notice that she has done a trellis stitch on top of the felt/satin stitch layers to finish the strawberry.  Nice work!

SJ Designs' Victorian Dogs for Sale

SJ Designs is featuring a lovely Victorian era needlepoint of two dogs on their sale site. The stitching is interesting because of the background stitch chosen and the interesting random stitching on the basket.

Susan thinks this dates to between 1850-70.  It's a great lesson on how needlepoint has and has not changed.
