Stumpwork Supply Sources

Prompted by a question by a friend, I started looking for information about where to get wire for stumpwork and stumbled across this very helpful site.  Not only does Elizabeth talk about sources for wire, she talks about the various styles of stumpwork that various prominent practitioners of this art do and how to choose a first project and a book on the topic.  She also covers silk ribbon embroidery briefly.  Thanks, Elizabeth.

Fabulous for Halloween

Sandy Arthur just posted a good photo of the canvas she's teaching for ANG's San Bernardino chapter in California. She has a stumpwork nose! She wears a feathery party hat and her orange kinky hair is fresh from the beauty parlor. Her teeth are the sort that would catch the eye of any dentist.  I think she is ready for a night on the town.

Witches aren't really my thing but any stitcher should take a careful look at the navy swirl background and the fabulous braided look of the green border.  I think the witch has a green brick stitch face!

Celebrating Santa Fe

Tudors Gossip

Henry VIII is still provoking gossip, 466 years after his death!   The latest news is that Amy Bunger's Home Study for this year is getting ready to start. Amy's going to do a custom commissioned piece from JP Needlepoint that celebrates all six of Henry's wives.  You can see it here--"Royal Pain in the Tudors."  Scroll down almost to the bottom of the newsletter to see the design and which royal wife is celebrated in which section.

Amy is going to set up a Facebook page called Secret Society Tudor that is open to both Home Study classes.  Watch for it if you are taking either section of the Royal Pain in the Tudors class from her.

There are also a set of scissor fobs and matching magnets celebrating each Queen.  The fobs cost $36 and the magnets are $14 but you can buy the pair for $48.  You can see them all on Amy's "What's New" page.  Which do you like best?  I'm a Katherine Howard myself....

Custom Camera Straps

Through the magic of Facebook's social features, I discovered Lee Tougas's custom camera straps. Lee takes photos and transfers them to needlepoint canvas, then stitches and finishes the design into a camera strap or belt. Neat!  I think anyone can see Lee's photos at the Pinnell Custom Leather FB page whether you have a Facebook account or not.
