Peeking Through Joan's Window

Joan Eidman of Fiori shows off her studio during her annual thread sorting party.  Alas!  There don't seem to be refreshments but there is a great brick cover lion from Susan Roberts and three Melissa Shirley dragonflies.  There is also a pillow and a seat cover that I can barely see but I think are Joan's own designs.

Davis Hardware at Work

I'd heard of Davis Hardware in Texas because folks are always talking about taking items there to be framed but I'd never known anything about the shop or seen any of their work until the designer Joan Eidman wrote about them in her blog.

Errata

If you work from charts or stitch guides a lot, you know that human error creeps in. There can be errors that are not caught until stitchers get their hands on the goods. Laura Perin has discovered a problem with the instructions for her Long Horse Collage. There's a typo in the thread list.

Holy Stitching!

I was amazed and awed to explore the needlepoint in Winchester Cathedral. There are some wonderful pieces of ecclesiastical art here.  If you are going to England and can manage a side visit to Winchester, please take a LOT of photographs!

The Saints Series

For some reason canvases of saints always catch my eye.  (I'm a Nativity fan, too. Think I was a nun in a previous life?)  Therefore, I was intrigued by the photos posted on Facebook of Joan Eidman's St. Nicholas and Holy St. Nicholas stand up figures but since a lot of Blog readers don't have FB accounts, I didn't mention it here.  But now Joan has posted great photos and closeups of her two saints and revealed a third St. Nicholas, the Snow Saint on her blog.  Go there now and enjoy each detail from the "jewels" to the backgrounds and the sweet faces of her saints.
