Twirling With and Without Threads

Ruth Schmuff is known to always add bling and to prefer light coverage stitching, both of which are in full play on her latest mystery class, "Twirl" from Amy Bruecken/Ruth Schmuff.

If you want to try light coverage stitches yourself, you need to be aware that there are things you'll have to do differently.  I summarized the challenges of tying off stitches on the back when you are using light coverage here.  Ruth dodged the entire issue herself by not stitching most of her background but since I know a lot of people feel uncomfortable with that option, so here are my tips if you are a "Kate" instead of a "Ruth."

Regardless of what sort of stitcher you are, it doesn't hurt to try new things occasionally.

UPDATE:  Here is Twirl all finished as a standup and also framed, by the way.

Progress Reports (with Birds a'Plenty) UPDATED

The cold and snowy winter weather seems to bring out the whimsy in shop owners and managers who are stitching away on some colorful and fun projects.  Ruth Schmuff has posted the first class photos of her latest mystery class which is called "Twirl."  The canvas is by Amy Bruecken and distributed by Ruth.  The next--and last!--lesson is in three weeks. Wonder what Ruth will do next?!

Virginia of Enriched Stitch is also stitching birds--Vicki Sawyer's "Party in the Coop."  Melissa Shirley adapted Vicki's artwork to needlepoint canvas.  Virginia will eventually make a stitch guide available so you can have your own hen party.

Ruth's Mysteries for 2015

Ruth Schmuff has announced her mystery classes for the first part of 2015.   The mystery for February-March is Amy Bruecken's "When In Doubt Twirl," featuring a penguin.  The March - May class is Kimberly's "Emma's Darling Bird."  Both canvases are distributed by Ruth and you can find more information on her website (second link below).

You don't have to be present to take the classes (Ruth does mail order in a fabulous fashion!) and you can wait a bit and see how things develop if you aren't quite sure before you add the class to your stitching schedule.
