Please Pass the Ammo

Tom P. mentioned on the ANG email list that a friend of his wife's recommended she store her spools of Kreinik metallic in shotgun ammo cases.  Like these--

Note that Tom is talking about SHOTGUN ammo boxes.  If you want to consider other boxes, slip a spool of Kreinik in your pocket and test the box in the store to make sure it will fit.  Some rifle bullets are very tall and slender while hand gun bullets are not.  The cartridges that fit inside shotguns are taller and a bit wider than most Kreinik spools.  I think Accentuate and Bijoux spools might also fit, but it depends on the type of ammo.  I suspect the clerk at Walmart or Caebela's or other hunting goods stores are not going to know, so take a sample or two to try.

Thanks for the tip, Tom!

TNNA Columbus is Over UPDATED

The shops and designers and tool manufacturers are all leaving Columbus now, heading home.    I hope this means that there will be new eye candy for us to see on their websites soon.

Pocket Full of Stitches pointed out there are new items up on the Kathy Schenkel Designs website.

Some of Associated Talents' very popular Seaside ornament and mini sock series is available for viewing on their website.  Sadly, the charming stitched models aren't pictured yet.

Painted Pony Designs has added five new angel canvas photos and several new dress form canvases to their Facebook page.  Search for Paintedponydesigns Debbiewoodard to see them.

Bijoux Glints

I've managed to get my hands on the new white core Bijoux thread line which is called Glints.  That's what you see in the photo above.  There are four colors, from left to right :  gold (White Gold 423), a lighter gold (Bronze 422), silver (Silver 441) and white (Diamond 491).  The white has a slight ivory cast to the white in the spool.  Here are the traditional black core colors in case you'd like to compare them.  Whether "white core" or "black core" this is a strong, thin metallic thread.

UPDATE:  Labors of Love has posted new perfume bottle and clip on bird designs on their website.

A New Type of Bijoux UPDATED

Threadaholic Alert:  I've heard from Gay Ann Rogers that there is a new type of Bijoux that has a white core instead of the black one.  For those of you who haven't used this thin, strong metallic thread, here's what the regular Bijoux looks like.  The black core gives each color a black stripe.  The new Bijoux will have a white stripe instead, which will significantly change the look.

Another new thread is Gloriana's silk chenille.  I haven't seen this in person, either, but I can't wait.  I love Gloriana's colors so I know this will be on my To Buy list once it is available locally (and I get to a shop).

We are very lucky to be living in this golden age of threads.

UPDATE: I've found a photo of the four new colors of what apparently is called Bijoux Glints.

UPDATE #2:  Vicky DeAngelis has stitched with the white Bijoux and there are photos on her blog.

UPDATE #3:  Vicky shows us the spools of Bijoux, all four colors (white, two golds and silver).
