The Jubilee Pillow

Ehrman's latest newsletter showed off the Jubilee Celebration pillow kit that Candace Bahouth created to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's fifty years ruling the United Kingdom.

It's not a brand new design but it's a lovely one and I thought today you might enjoy seeing it.

Unicorns in Needlepoint UPDATED

Apparently April 9 was Unicorn Day (how did I miss THAT?!) so Accoutrement Designs has posted their unicorn themed magnets and fobs. Unicorn canvas by Oasis.
https://fobfriends.blogspot.com/2019/04/happy-unicorn-day.html

Black Rose Needlepoint has a new design—"Sophie's Unicorn." This normally comes on 13 mesh but it can be done on 18 count or 10 count for a child to stitch.

Needlepoint.com has a folk art version of a unicorn ornament as an online class.

Nenah Stone has a lovely one that's not too large at seven inches square.

A. Bradley has a darling small unicorn mini sock.

My Pink Sugar Life has a sweet one.

Actually, their shop has the most unicorn small pieces I've found.  You can find a Kathy Schenkel tooth fairy unicorn or mini sock with a castle in the background, Rachel Donley's round unicorn ornament with space for a monogram (or perhaps a tiny photo?), and several versions of Princess and Me's little uni ornament, plus Burnett and Bradley's silvery Harry Potter-worthy unicorn rearing.  Plus you can get their folk art unicorn as a plain canvas.

Here's the Princess and Me uni made up into a pillow.

And as an ornament.

Susan Roberts offers the Tapestry Tent unicorn Christmas stocking.

Oasis Needlepoint has a unicorn portrait that appears to be rather large.

LizArt has a small charted one, suitable for a beginner.

So does Burnett and Bradley (formerly A Collection of Designs).

The famous unicorn from the Cluny Tapestries is still available for those who love Medieval designs.
Search around though.  You can get it cheaper than this.

Or just buy and download the chart.

Alice Peterson has a version as well.

However, my favorite is the Ehrman kit from Candace Bahouth.

A Celebration of Flowers Exhibit

A museum in Bath has an exhibit of Kaffe Fassett quilts and needlepoint and Candace Bahouth mosaic work.  The latest Kaffe newsletter has a link to a video of the show.  There are lots and lots of quilts but the floral needlepoint is amazing, too.  The exhibit ends in September if you happen to be in England then.

Background Idea

I just spotted a very clever background idea on Candace Bahouth's new "Avebury" design for Ehrman Tapestry.  Click on the "click here to view larger image" link for a good look.  It's two colors in stripes of varying widths and irregular edges in two muted colors.

I think this would look fabulous for those pretty florals with the bland, one color backgrounds, sort of like this Point of It All Designs piece.

Many thanks to Candace for her clever design work!

Candace Bahouth

If you are a fan of Ehrman needlepoint kits from England, you will have run across Candace Bahouth and her needlepoint.   You can see her needlepoint patterns at EhrmanTapestry.com's website, but I discovered that Candace has a personal page that showcases her current projects.  This page shows off needlepoint and tapestry designs she has created over the years.
http://www.mosaicbahouth.com/Mosaic_tapestry_needlepoint_gallery.html

Here are her currently available kits.

Introducing Janet Haigh

Ehrman Design in Britain is introducing a new designer--Janet Heigh--with a video of her talking about her work.   Watching it is wonderful for a lazy Sunday morning.

Note the other videos at the bottom of the page.  If you are a fan of Kaffe Fassett, don't miss those!

Queen Fever

Despite the American obsession with British royalty, the Diamond Jubilee celebration for Queen Elizabeth II hasn't really been on our radar here in Chilly Hollow. That's about to change for us needlepointers with a new Diamond Jubilee design from Candace Bahouth (distributed by Ehrman Tapestry).  You can see the new cushion design on page 2 of What's New, right under a crown cushion also by Bahouth  The link below goes immediately to page two, so if you are curious, don't miss going back to the first page to see all the new designs.   After all, there are two new designs by Beth Russell and the incomparable Kaffe Fassett on page one.
