Is That Your Slip Showing? Or Your Jessica?

Debbie Rowley of DebBee's Designs shows how you can alter the top layer of a three layered Jessica stitch to show more or less of the colors of the middle layer.

This intrigued me.  I had no idea that you could layer Jessicas, using a different colored thread for each layer to get fun effects.  Smart of you, Debbie!  Upon doing a little research I discovered that Debbie Rowley has even done a four layered Jessica in one of her designs.  Here is how Ruth Schmuff diagrams Jessicas, just so you get the general idea.

The Winter Mystery Class: The Cocoa and Cookies Nutcracker UPDATED

The Spring 2018 Mystery Revealed (and Updated)

The mystery class at Bedecked and Beadazzled for Spring 2018 will be this lovely bird and polka dot-themed piece from Ellen Giggenbach.  It's called Fantail.  What Ruth will do to embellish it is To Be Revealed….

I'll update this as Ruth pulls rabbits (and bling and ribbons and all other forms of fun) out of her hat.  To start, Ruth does Jessicas!  And there is a link to a video to show how to make Jessica stitches.

Jessica and the Spanish Olives

Robin gives us a lesson on making perfect Jessicas on the Needlepoint Study Hall blog using a thread I've heard quite a few folks rave about--ThreadworX's Spanish Olives.  A lot of fabulous stitchers are using this color in a variety of types of overdyed threads (perle cotton, floss, metallic and even wool).  The second link shows you the color, although I think in real life it is a more complex mix of olive green shading into medium green.  Alas, I have none to compare to the photo so I can't be sure.  [Jane adds Spanish Olives to the shopping list for her yearly trip to the shops.]
