ThreadworX's Floss and Overdyed Kreinik

Needlepoint.com's latest video showcases overdyed cotton floss and overdyed Kreinik from ThreadworX.  These are beautiful threads, with lovely colors, and the Kreinik size 8 and 12 overdoes are so pretty!

Overdyed Kreinik Size 16 Braid Now Available

I have great news for fans of overdyed Kreinik!  Colour Complements is now dyeing size 16 braid in some of their fun color combinations.

ThreadworX has been the supplier for sizes 4, 8 and 12 overdyed Kreinik here in the United States, but if you want size 16 braid, Lorraine of Colour Complements is the place.   Since this is brand new, Lorraine's Etsy shop only has a multicolor pack available, but I think if you ask her nicely and be a little patient, you can arrange to have the color you want made just for you.

What I Actually Prefer to Beads and Sequins

Nimble Needle is a big fan of metallic threads.  How do I know?  I read this--
http://thenimbleneedle.blogspot.com/2012/06/sparkle-delight.html

Following in the steps of Needle Necessities, ThreadworX dyes Kreinik metallic in sizes 4, 8 and 12 to create some beautiful colors.  Here is their #8 size page, but the colors are available in almost all sizes.  This thread is just like Kreinik metallics to work with, only the colors are different.

Caron's Snow is a synthetic metallic thread that is a little stretchy.  I find one strand perfect for 18 count.  The colors are lovely and the threads easy to use.  Melissa Shirley is using yellow to stitch a wonderful design.  (See her Facebook "Melissa Shirley Designs" account photo albums.)

These are not the only metallics available now--in fact the variety is staggering--but Snow and over dyed Kreinik are wonderful threads on the right canvas.

However, if you are a sequin and bead kind of person, Vicky's got lots of photos of the newest from The Collection.  There's even Wonder Ribbon, which I've been wondering about.

Jessica and the Spanish Olives

Robin gives us a lesson on making perfect Jessicas on the Needlepoint Study Hall blog using a thread I've heard quite a few folks rave about--ThreadworX's Spanish Olives.  A lot of fabulous stitchers are using this color in a variety of types of overdyed threads (perle cotton, floss, metallic and even wool).  The second link shows you the color, although I think in real life it is a more complex mix of olive green shading into medium green.  Alas, I have none to compare to the photo so I can't be sure.  [Jane adds Spanish Olives to the shopping list for her yearly trip to the shops.]

TheadworX's Overdyed Metallics

The late Elaine Warner of Needle Necessities introduced overdyed Kreinik metallic thread to us at least five years ago. I loved that stuff! In the photo above you see a small packet of it in lilacs and greens from my stash (color 2078) on the right side. You may still be able to buy it packaged this way if your shop hasn't sold out. I think my package of lilac and green is #4 Kreinik braid but the label doesn't say.

Luckily ThreadworX is making this available to us again. Through the generosity of a friend I have some of the new colors to show you lined up on the left side. The colors are (top to bottom) 71122 (silver), 71043 (copper and a silvery green), 71154 (reds, blues, green, yellow, orange, purples and pink), 71072 (orange and yell0w), 71148 (yellow gold and copper) and 71077 (copper). These are all the #8 braid size of Kreinik.

Here is ThreadworX's website where you can browse the overdyed metallic colors as well as other threads they offer. Almost all the colors are offered in #4, #8 and #12 sizes.

This is a wonderful thread. I especially love stitching bullions with it but it works well in any situation where you'd use a regular metallic thread. I am planning to use some of it on my next pet guardian angel for the ANG Auction, in fact.

Happy browsing!
