Here's the direct link to Mary's tutorial.  Note she uses a hair pick instead of a fork, but all you need is an even number of tines on either side of a central space.  It's helpful to choose an implement the width of the bow you are planning, though.

Adding a Bow: The Movie

Today's brief embellishment lesson is on The Wool and The Floss's Instagram account and demonstrates how to add a bow to your needlepoint.

Treenway silk ribbon is 3.5 mm wide while River Silks' ribbons are 4 mm, 7 mm or 13 mm.  The width doesn't matter.  The process is the same whether you use skinny ribbons or wide ones.  You don't really have to use chenille needles, either, but they do really help as they are sharp and have a nice sized eye for flat ribbon-like threads.

How to Make Consistent Bows

Mary's bow is about an inch and a half wide but I think you could make a smaller one for your needlepoint.  Just do a little practicing first.

Mile High Princess Uses Wired Braid: The Video

Doug Kreinik has another fun video, this time with Mindy of Mile High Princess who used Kreinik's Wired Braid to make the bow on a Christmas package.

If you've never seen a tekobari, this is what Mindy used to poke her hole in the canvas to insert the fat Wired Braid.  The tip is pretty sharp but the shaft has corners so it doesn't roll off your table when you put it down.

How to Make a Christmas Bow

Ruth Schmuff taught Melissa Shirley's "Santa's Books" over the Thanksgiving holiday at her shop, Bedecked and Beadazzled. Part of the decoration is a pretty red bow, which Ruth explains how to create in this tutorial. It's easy if you use Wired Lace, which is a type of wire-edged mesh ribbon used in beading.
