The 2023 Needle Travel Mania Guide

The 2023 edition of the Needle Travel Mania Guide is out!  It's inexpensive but packed full of information about craft shops.  If you travel a lot, you'll want to pick up a copy.

You can also look for a shop online at their website if you are making a trip to one area or have online access in your RV.

I'd advise travelers to call a shop before visiting in case they have closed due to a family emergency or illness or the Travel Mania Guide has something wrong.

Finding Shops on the Road

The place to find shops that sell needlepoint shops seems to be NeedleTravel.com.  Their online database allows you to mark the sorts of stitching shops you are interested in and what state(s) you need information on.  I think it would be wise to call the shop before you go to make sure they will be open when you can get there, however.  Small businesses don't always have the time or personnel to update their website especially when there is a family emergency or bad weather.

By the way, they have a travel guide paperback you can purchase if that's more convenient for you.  Just toss it in the glove compartment of your car and off you go!

The Needle Travel App UPDATED

Brenda tells us about the Needle Travel app which is free.  It only works on the iPhone but if you travel a lot and have an Apple device, you'll want to check into this.  UPDATE: Melita says it works on Android phones, too.  She has it and it works well in the Philadelphia area where she lives.

Thanks, Brenda! (And thanks to Melita, too!)

Summer Shop Tour

It's summer, which means summer vacation. For stitchers, that means a chance to check out new shops. Luckily, some tourists have blogs and report back to their fellow stitchers.   Kathy visited the new location for Stitchville USA, which is in Minnetonka, Minnesota, just outside Minneapolis.  She took lots of photographs of the interior and threads.  As a threadaholic, I was thrilled!

Here is the shop website, in case you spotted a Must Have item in Kathy's photos.

In a related posting, Louise's Needlework showed off the stitching of the ladies who work there. It's a good introduction to the shop and the staff who look like a talented bunch.

Louise's Needlework is in Powell, Ohio, which I've actually visited.  It's full of historic homes, antique shops and good eating.  Louise's wasn't there when I last visited, though.  It's been quite a while actually.  Wonder if I can work a trip to Ohio and Minnesota into my next summer vacation?

Speaking of traveling and finding shops, Auntie mentioned this website on Facebook.  The last time I checked it had far more knitting and cross stitch shops listed than needlepoint, but it still might be quite useful.
