A Howdy Honey Needlepoint Find

The Howdy Honey Needlepoint shop in Texas found this cute clip on lamp at Target.

It's rechargeable and has a LED bulb.  I don't know how wide a table edge it can clip on.  You may have to mail order.  My local Target's sold out already.

Fillable Glass Lamps

Tracey's Stitches and Style Instagram shows how she filled a glass base lamp she got at Target with her orts.  Note what she says at the end of her video.

Target seems to have a huge selection of these "fillable" lamps in various sizes and shapes.  (Not all come with shades.)  Note that the one Tracey used could also be filled with a needlepoint canvas.  Stitch something that is that tall, crease the raw edges to turn them under, tuck it into the lamp and stuff bubble wrap or something similar in the middle to hold the canvas in position.  Easy peasy.

How to Stitch the Target Totes

Love MHB Studio has posted instructions on how to stitch on rattan-type patterns, such as the Target tote.

She's also done free charts for patterns you might use.

Target's Metal Wall Pocket for Needlepoint Display

Rachel Donley Designs noticed this metal wall pocket at Target.  It can be hung on the wall or sit upright on a table or desk.

It's perfect for displaying needlepoint!

Mainstream?

Well, maybe a balderized (and cheap) version of embroidery has hit Target.
https://jennyhenrydesigns.wordpress.com/2016/05/02/has-stitching-gone-mainstream/

This does no favors when it comes to changing the minds of folks who hear something is handmade and think "cheap."

Target Sells Needlepoint UPDATED

Thanks to Patty who posted about it on Facebook, I know that Target now carries needlepoint kits.  They have a section called Hand Made Modern near the stationery stuff, apparently, at least in some stores, which is where you find the green and blue blocks kit.  They also have something called an embroidery box with has a lid with perforated holes which you stitch over using thick thread like knitting yarn.  The label shows an initial, so these are meant to be done as monograms.  Patty posted a photo of a chart of the alphabet that comes with the box.

Dawn bought the needlepoint kit with the blocks pattern.  She says it is cheaply made and has blue and green skeins of what appears to be cotton floss, but she says if it gets folks interested in needlepoint, it is a good thing.

Jenny Henry has done a comprehensive list and review.

Thanks for the information, ladies!  Target, here we come!

UPDATE:  Donna took photos of things at her local Target.  Very 1960s look to the display, don't you think?
