Happy Stitching with KC Needlepoint

KC Needlepoint has a new venture called Happy Stitching.

The website is a one-stop shopping needlepoint experience where you can buy a kit with everything you need including self-finishing items.  They even have a section of video tutorials to help folks who've not needlepointed or perhaps not used self-finishing goods before.  It's a great idea.

The Smart Cookie's Glasses Cases

Stephanie has two new glasses cases which are finished in an unusual way--they are stand ups with an open top so her computer and stitching glasses are near at hand without taking up much room.

I think it is a very clever idea!

Self-Finishing Glasses Cases

Thanks to Stitch by Stitch Larchmont I know that KCN Designers has introduced self-finishing leather glasses cases.  The opening is two and three-quarters by four and a half inches.  They come in red,

...hot pink,

...royal blue,

...and navy.

Cupcakes, Carts and More

JCreation Needlepoint has a series of fun ornaments that are made up at the tops of metal carts (included with the canvas).

Here is what the little carts look like made up.

JCreation also does an interesting line of sunglass cases that come with a key ring which I think could be used to clip the case to your purse or belt.

Very inventive designer!

Trina Turk is Selling Needlepoint Sunglasses Cases

Thanks to Marty's shop eyes, we discovered that Trina Turk sells needlepoint glasses cases as well as sunglasses.
https://www.trinaturk.com/eyewear-and-sunglasses/

Just FYI.  Of course the ones you can make yourself will be really much nicer but if you like the Trina Turk style, it's a nice change of pace from what you normally see in the stores.

An Adventure For the Golfer UPDATED

Melita has finished the glasses case she created for her golfing husband. It's a beauty, too!   But you should read the adventure she went through to create it in order.  First, she bought the canvas at Designers Desk when she was at the ANG Seminar in Chicago in 2014.

Melita had to adjust the area to be stitched in order to make it glasses case-sized.  She also found using a StarMag clip on light really helped her stitch the black painted area with black thread (second link although right now Nimble Needle is sold out).  UPDATE:  Nimble Needle has the StarMag clip on lights again!

Melita decided to use the finishers at Rittenhouse to make her golf canvas into a glasses case.

Rittenhouse did a spectacular job!

Where Did I Put My Glasses?

When I first taught myself to needlepoint, I made a lot of glasses cases since most of my friends and family wore them then. It's a quick stitch and a fun way to create your own designs, too. Rittenhouse brought this all back to me with their posting about glasses cases for gifts.

Don't know anyone who wears glasses?  These little canvases make great scissors holders or pillows or framed artwork for your busy desk!

Interview (Glasses Case Included)

Trish Burr features an interview with Gay Booysen, a fellow South African counted canvasworker on her blog this morning. It's a fun read and a rare glimpse of African needlepoint. Instructions on finishing a glasses case are included in two links. Note the stacked beaded edge instructions in the first link. That would make a lovely finishing touch for any project!  It's great fun to look at photos of Gay's work.  The beaded strap on her glasses case is gorgeous.
