The Smart Cookie's Glasses Cases

Stephanie has two new glasses cases which are finished in an unusual way--they are stand ups with an open top so her computer and stitching glasses are near at hand without taking up much room.

I think it is a very clever idea!

Need Wearable Light/Magnifiers?

I just re-read Kurdy Briggs' description of the cheap wearable light/magnifier she uses and looked them up on eHobby.
https://www.ehobbytools.com/Magnifier-Visors_c_161.html

Here is what Kurdy uses.  She's the brains behind Threedles Designs' charts, by the way.

If you need prescription light/magnifier glasses, you'll want to check into CraftOptics.  Note that the light is a separate option from the prescription glasses with magnifier.

Everyone's eyes are different.  Some folks need just a good light, some want a light/magnifier combination.  Whatever eyes you have, treat them well and use good lighting of some sort.

Clip On Magnifers

Ridgewood shows off a set of clip on magnifiers that come in four magnification strengths. This might be the perfect solution to your stitching needs, depending on whether you wear glasses and like different magnification strengths for different tasks.

Town and Country Gives Permission to Wear Needlepoint

Thanks to Jane V. who mentioned this on Facebook, I have an online article from Town and Country counting all the neat needlepoint wearables available.
http://www.townandcountrymag.com/style/fashion-trends/a2903/reasons-to-love-needlepoint/?src=spr_FBPAGE&spr_id=1454_159983313

They don't mention you can stitch these yourself for less money and a higher quality, not to mention getting precisely what you want.  But once again we discover we needlepointers are trendy as all get out.

Here's a bit more about Tucker Blair's goods.

Here is the Smathers and Branson website.

Just in case you feel the need to go preppy without the fun of stitching these things, you know.

An Adventure For the Golfer UPDATED

Melita has finished the glasses case she created for her golfing husband. It's a beauty, too!   But you should read the adventure she went through to create it in order.  First, she bought the canvas at Designers Desk when she was at the ANG Seminar in Chicago in 2014.
https://melitastitches4fun.wordpress.com/2014/10/27/golfing-anyone/

Melita had to adjust the area to be stitched in order to make it glasses case-sized.  She also found using a StarMag clip on light really helped her stitch the black painted area with black thread (second link although right now Nimble Needle is sold out).  UPDATE:  Nimble Needle has the StarMag clip on lights again!

Melita decided to use the finishers at Rittenhouse to make her golf canvas into a glasses case.

Rittenhouse did a spectacular job!

Elizabeth Does Storage Right

Elizabeth Hurd just posted about an unusual storage box she uses on Facebook--a glasses display box!
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=624674370987970&set=gm.766813683395792&type=1&theater

Elizabeth got this from the "Eyewear Displays" section of the  PeepersSpecs.com site.

Hurry because both styles are on sale for a few hours more.  There is also a thirty percent off coupon in the header and they also are offering free shipping.

Need a Little Vision Boost?

If your eyes need a little power boost to see better, you might want to try the drug store magnifiers. They come in various magnification powers but style is lacking. Fortunately, Pocket Full of Stitches has amazing styles available for the fashionable far-sighted person.

Where Did I Put My Glasses?

When I first taught myself to needlepoint, I made a lot of glasses cases since most of my friends and family wore them then. It's a quick stitch and a fun way to create your own designs, too. Rittenhouse brought this all back to me with their posting about glasses cases for gifts.

Don't know anyone who wears glasses?  These little canvases make great scissors holders or pillows or framed artwork for your busy desk!
