Look at Kelly and Ruth! (and Vicky)
The Internet has allowed us all to peek over the shoulders of some fabulous designers and teachers as they work on class projects to tempt and delight us. If you come over here and look through this link, you'll see Kelly Clark's latest stitching progress on two of the Thanksgiving canvases (Indian Brave and Pilgrim Gent) she is stitching as a class project for Needle Works of Austin, Texas. The beaded moccasins and the rifle are inspired!

If you are more a Halloween Whimsical person than an Elegant Thanksgiving one, check out the mystery class Ruth Schmuff has just announced for this fall. This is from the same Share One's Ideas Design's witch shoe series as the very popular "It's All About the Shoes" piece that both Needlenook of La Jolla and M's Canvashouse have done classes on.

If frogs make your skin crawl, here are the two class projects using "It's All About the Shoes" in alphabetical order.

By the way, Vicky's working away on her Cats Night Out by SharonG. It's fun to watch this wonderful canvas unfold and to read why Vicky chooses the stitches she does There will be a stitch guide--eventually!

There's nothing Kelly doesn't know about dimensional touches on needlepoint canvas. If you are charmed and want to know how to join Kelly's Elegant Thanksgiving class, talk to Needle Works in Austin.

More About Woodlawn

Woodlawn 2012
MaggieB has collected links from folks writing about their Woodlawn exhibit experiences for us to enjoy. I think MaggieB belongs to Nelly's Needlers, the group that puts on Woodlawn each year. Regardless, I'm happy that she has collected links most of which are from blogs I didn't know about.

By the way, there are always terrific smocked dresses shown at Woodlawn. I never mention them as I'm not really qualified to talk about them but they are all gorgeous works of art.

Purses
Labels:
Julia Key H. Snyder,
purses
Needlepoint purses are some of the loveliest ways to showcase your needle art. We are all familiar with purse canvases from folks like Elizabeth Turner Designs and Melissa Shirley that are especially shaped and designed to be turned into a purse, but as Needle Bug shows, many canvases can function beautifully as pocketbooks of one style or another.

Anyone remember the Brenda Hart book on stitching purses from Red Thread Designs? Dale has stitched several of them. They make great little tool bags or an evening purse when you don't need everything and the kitchen sink inside your pocketbook.

Here's It's In The Bag. Great little book! Actually, I have a copy I've not opened in several years. Post a comment below (or email me at chillyhollow at hot mail dot com) and I'll do a random drawing of the names on June 15th and send it to the winner. There's no need for it to languish here when someone else will treasure and use it.
