Color Study

Michelle of Little Bird Designs has been experimenting with unusual color combinations.  I really like how her coral and purple stripes turned out when stitched!

Not Your Grandmother's Needle Art Exhibit in Montana

The Bigfork Museum of Art and History in Montana will open an exhibit of needlework that includes needlepoint and quilting August 10th.  It's called "Not Your Grandmother's Needle Art" and I hope folks who are going to be in Bigfork late this summer get to visit it.

Many thanks to the sharp eyes of Deborah who spotted this and posted about it on Facebook.

How to Start Threads

The cross stitch site Funk and Weber is running a series of tutorials on how to start threads.  These things will work on any ground fabric, so I thought I'd mention them on Blog.  The first posting is about starting threads with waste knots.

Next is how to start threads with a loop.

The next tutorial talks about starting threads by piercing them.

Note that some of these techniques can also be used to end off threads.
