Beading Strategies from Mary

Mary Legallet's blog just keeps getting more interesting!  This week she blogs about beading and shares two tricks that help her beading on needlepoint canvas look great.

If Reindeer Had Slippers...

If reindeer had slippers like these, they would never leave the comfy chair and cup of hot chocolate!  Virginia did a great job stitching these and the finishing is outstanding.  Follow the link to see a whole variety of Kathy Schenkel slipper canvases ready for the four-legged critter that lives under your Christmas tree.

Six Photos to Pretty Silk Flowers

First, invite Meredith Willet to teach at your shop. Then add silk ribbon loops, a perfectly manicured finger, beads and a needle. You end up with pretty little flowers!

Joan Rivers' Dog Pillows

Thanks to the sharp eyes of the team from Needlepoint For Fun, I can show you Joan Rivers' pug pillows.  Her NYC apartment has been sold.  When you look at the slide show, photos 10 and 11 show needlepoint pillows, although I think some of the dog pillows might be fabric instead of needlepoint.

Small Book Reviews

The latest e-newsletter from Michelle at Come to the Point has several mini reviews of a new book from Carolyn Hedge Baird (Teeny Tiny Needlepoint Stitches) and Michele Roberts's older book (Broad Stripes and Bright Stars).  Most stitches have heard of Carolyn but may not be aware just how talented Michele is.  Michele Roberts is a bit under the radar as she is primarily a teacher but her books often are paired with companion projects, which is particularly nice for those who want to do a sampler but don't want to do the designing themselves.  I think you'll enjoy hearing what Michelle has to say about their new books and their usefulness in finding small stitches for small spaces.
