Breaking News: Come to the Point is Closing November 24

I just saw that Come to the Point in is closing their physical location in San Rafael, California in less than 10 days.  They plan to reopen as an online only store shortly.  Stay tuned for details!

A New Tool

Come to the Point's latest e-newsletter shows off a new tool I'd not seen before.   It is an extendable magnet arm with a light on the end, very useful for picking up small items from the floor, particularly if you have a carpet or linoleum with a busy pattern that makes anything you drop disappear immediately!

Small Book Reviews

The latest e-newsletter from Michelle at Come to the Point has several mini reviews of a new book from Carolyn Hedge Baird (Teeny Tiny Needlepoint Stitches) and Michele Roberts's older book (Broad Stripes and Bright Stars).  Most stitches have heard of Carolyn but may not be aware just how talented Michele is.  Michele Roberts is a bit under the radar as she is primarily a teacher but her books often are paired with companion projects, which is particularly nice for those who want to do a sampler but don't want to do the designing themselves.  I think you'll enjoy hearing what Michelle has to say about their new books and their usefulness in finding small stitches for small spaces.

The ColorScope

I'd never heard of a ColorScope until Michaele of Come to the Point mentioned them in her shop newsletter.   They are a color selection tool.  Look through this kaleidescope-like tool at the pile of threads you picked for that amazing counted canvaswork design and see how they work together.  (There are three photos of the tool here.  Click on Next to see them all.)

Jan Copies Me (But Better)

Jan wanted a tote bag for Christmas so she had a place for her current projects, so she called Michele at Come to the Point (hereinafter referred to as Santa's Helper or The Temptress, take your pick).  Jan ended up with the same Lee nylon tote I own except that I use mine as a purse and have carried it almost daily for about three years.  I love it!

Smilin' Jack Fash Insert from Leigh Designs

I use mine to model various canvases when I finish them.  That's what you see in the photos above.  My tote came with two sticky backed inserts so you can switch canvases at whim.  More inserts are available separately if you want to change each month, with the holidays, or just to match your favorite outfits.  Lee has a great product in these purses.  I absolutely love mine so I am sure Jan will absolutely love hers, too.

JL Walsh Alert

While wandering around the Internet this morning, I discovered a stash of the discontinued JL Walsh silk/wool blend over at Come to the Point.  This is a wonderful thin wool-silk mix in glorious colors which is sadly no longer available.  If you are a fan, the shop has a few colors left.

A Leather Finisher Recommendation

Come to the Point's latest e-newsletter recommends Lund Enterprises in Pennsylvania as a great place to turn those belt canvases into sandal straps. Lund has very specific requirements to do this which Michele outlines in her newsletter.

Your local shop will have to talk to Lund about your specific project as it looks like they don't deal directly with the public.  It also looks as if they design canvases.  My favorite from the Sign Gallery is above since this is just how I feel this morning--and most mornings!
