Denise at Denise DeRusha Designs remembers how all 50 of her state postcard canvases were stitched by Rita's Needlepoint in NYC as a fund raiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

You can get a good look at your state's postcard design on Denise's website (where your favorite shop can order for you).  By the way, the states aren't listed in alphabetical order but by order number.

Rita's Got Hit!

At least Rita's got their stock back.  Hopefully shop owners are sharing details about the thief so they can watch them when they appear in a shop.  I know NP Nation-member shop owners shared info about a shoplifter who was stealing from a great many shops several years ago and gradually put her out of business.  

If you are browsing a shop and notice something, say something right then.  Small businesses can't take last if this happens.

Footstools at Rita's

You don't see examples of needlepoint-covered footstools often, so I was thrilled to see Rita's Needlepoint post three examples on their Instagram account.

Use the right side arrow to see all three.  Note that despite the differences in style, all three needlepoint tops are in all tent stitch and all wool (I think).  That's going to be the most durable thread and stitch in the long run.

The Curious Cowgirl Goes on a Needlepoint Retreat

Mary the Curious Cowgirl went on a needlepoint retreat.  She and her stitching buddies choose Patricia Sone and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree ornament from DJ Designs was their project.  The retreat itself was at Annie and Company in Manhattan.  They also visited Rita's Needlepoint (which has moved recently and is under new ownership, by the way).
