Getting to Know ThreadworX

Melissa of the Pointing It Out podcast interviews Tony Carter of ThreadworX.  It's interesting to hear how this business got started, the threads they offer and their plans.

If you aren't a threadaholic you may not have heard of ThreadworX.  Browse all the goodies here.

Here are the colors in Bradley's Balloons.  This example happens to be perle cotton but it's available in floss, Vineyard Silk, Au Ver A Soie, Bella Lusso and Kreinik.

Threadaholic Alert: Vineyard Jewels

Vineyard Silks has a new thread called Vineyard Jewels. It apparently is a partly metallic thread larger than size 8 but smaller than size 12 Kreinik. There are lots of colors but it is so new, there's nothing on their website about it yet.

Threadaholic Alert: Mary's Favorite Threads Video

If you love threads, you'll want to watch the latest video by FiberTalk.  Yes, I know FiberTalk normally does podcasts, but this week they interviewed Mary McGuire on camera to learn about her favorite threads.  You will see Mary's projects and hear her explain what thread was used where. Very interesting!

By the way, I'm guessing that these are the Wubbers flat-nosed pliers Mary mentions at the end of the video.

Breaking News: Vineyard Strandable Merino

Suzie at Enriched Stitch tells us that Vineyard Strandable Merino wool will no longer be available in some colors. Vineyard Silks is limiting the range to forty-three colors.  The shop has put their remaining stock of Vineyard Merino on sale as they won't carry a wool that has so few colors.

Note that Vineyard Merino wool comes in both strandable and tapestry wool types.  Apparently only the strandable is being reduced to forty-three colors.  Thanks for the heads up, Suzie.

Stitch of the Month: Basketweave on a Stick

Fredna's lovely sheep (done using Vineyard Silks and Basketweave on a Stick) is the stitch of the month for December.   It's the perfect pairing of stitch and thread.

Fredna is working from a Julia Snyder stitch guide on an Elizabeth Turner stocking that's part of a Nativity stocking set.  Here is the shepherd and sheep design in full.

News and Interviews

More news is coming out of the St. Charles trade show as new products are released.  For example, Laura Perin shows off another new design underway on her blog.  Whether you are a fan of counted canvaswork or not, you'll want to read this as she has a great tip for stitching with cotton perle.

Janet Perry has posted photos of new colors in Baroque Silk and Vineyards Silk courtesy of Homestead Needle Arts.  If you are a threadaholic, you'll want to see them.

The Point of It All has posted a great interview with Barbara Bergsten whose newest designs I just mentioned this week.

Finally, I have an interview with Fancy Carole.  This is a old post reposted by Janet Perry on her site but somehow I missed it before.  Fancy Carole was one of my dear friend Nina's favorite designers, so this is for you, Nina.
