How to Make Ringlet Curls: The Movie

Ruth Schmuff demonstrates how to make thick coils of curl for your canvas the easy way.  Glue is involved but this is how handmade doll curls are made and I've never heard of bugs bothering their hair.

Need Curly Ribbons?

Pat pointed out on Needlepoint Nation that you can curl grosgrain ribbons by using heat.

I've always curled ribbons with my scissors.  I had no idea you could use heat or starch to make ribbons curl, too.  Thanks for the tip, Pat!

Note that the fabric your ribbon is made from will effect the results.  Scissor curls don't work on grosgrain ribbons.  You may need to experiment a bit to see what works for you.

Two Ways to Curl

Needlepoint For Fun's latest tutorial covers two ways to create curly hair for needlepointed people.

I just happened to notice Jennifer's fabulous chef with her curls and amazing hat when I was writing this.  I thought you'd like to see French knot curls in action (with some woven picots added in I think).
