Custom Needlepoint Candles and Monogrammed Straw Hats

The Labors of Love needlepoint store in Atlanta has something totally different -- needlepoint-themed scented candles.

There are three scents in The Needlepoint Collection--Canvas, Needles and Threads.  These are soy candles, made in Georgia with the stitcher in mind.  The shop even sells a glass dome to put over the candle when not in use to keep the dust off.   Clever!

Labors of Love also carries sun hats with a monogrammable top.  The straw hats have a wide brim, are available in three different ribbon colors, and the price includes your custom monogram chart.

(By the way, Love MHB Studio has a video on how to switch the ribbon on your straw hat.)

If you want something unique but still needlepoint-related, looks like Labors of Love's store is the place to shop!

Stitches for Wooly Hats and Snowmen

Ridgewood Needlepoint's blog shows off four cute snowmen in wooly hats from Patti Paints.  They also suggest four stitches for the snowy bodies and the kalem stitch for the hats.

Enlarge the page to see the stitch diagrams better.  I would be tempted to add tiny crystal beads in the empty spaces between the Upright Stitch crosses to give the snowman more icy sparkle.

Two Ways to Curl

Needlepoint For Fun's latest tutorial covers two ways to create curly hair for needlepointed people.
http://www.needlepoint-for-fun.com/how-to-needlepoint-curly-hair.htm

I just happened to notice Jennifer's fabulous chef with her curls and amazing hat when I was writing this.  I thought you'd like to see French knot curls in action (with some woven picots added in I think).

Town and Country Gives Permission to Wear Needlepoint

Thanks to Jane V. who mentioned this on Facebook, I have an online article from Town and Country counting all the neat needlepoint wearables available.

They don't mention you can stitch these yourself for less money and a higher quality, not to mention getting precisely what you want.  But once again we discover we needlepointers are trendy as all get out.

Here's a bit more about Tucker Blair's goods.

Here is the Smathers and Branson website.

Just in case you feel the need to go preppy without the fun of stitching these things, you know.

Maggie Predicts Royal Hat?

If you watched any news coverage of the Royal Wedding last week, you probably noticed the hat worn by Princess Beatrice.  It was eye-catching, to say the least!

What I realized today while browsing eBay was that Maggie has a canvas of a woman sporting a very similar hat.  You can see the needlepoint version by clicking on this link or by searching for item number 200577939006 which is titled "Maggie Handpainted Donut Lady Canvas 14" x 14".
