Brenda's Needlepoint Studio has a neat idea about using her iPad and iPen to photograph a chart then mark up sections that are done.  She has discovered the iPen works great as a laying too, too!

Breaking News: New Book App UPDATED

Meredith Willet's little spiral bound book, Knots, Fur and Turkey Work,  will be available as an app March 15, 2018.  It will cost $12.99.  You can find a link on The Meredith Collection’s website on March 15, or find it in the app store.  I am assuming this is Apple only and available only on iTunes but I don't know for certain.

Remember, apps that are not updated as your phones and tablets are updated constantly will cease to work.  That's how software is, it goes out of style eventually.  Buying an app is not like buying a book.  Just FYI.

UPDATE:  I'm told Meredith has added more stitch diagrams to the app version of the book, which is a nice touch!

Landscape Stitches on the iPad

A lot of folks are hooked on eBook Readers, whether they are varieties of Kindles or Nooks, the iPad series from Apple, or smart phones like the iPhone or Android phones.  Melita has done us all a service by showing off the screen of her iPad with the stitch she is using for the sky for her current piece.  The eBook she is using is Landscape Stitches from the Little Shoppe folks.  Of course this is available as a physical book as well.

This book is optimized for the iPod Touch or iPhone, not the iPad, but you can use the controls to increase the size of the diagram and that is what Melita shows us here--the difference between the 1X and 2X settings on her iPad.  She tells us a little about the eBook in her article, too.

All this is useful information if you are thinking about splurging on an eBook and want to know if it looks better on an iPhone than an iPad.  We all have different sorts of eyes and what works for me might not work for you and vice versa.

Shapes of Needlepoint Series 2 eBook Available UPDATED

Lee Self Finishing Belts

Not interested in a pocketbook?  My spies tell me that next January Stirling is going to release leather cases for eBook readers like the Kindle and the Nook and a case for iPads, all of which will have about a 6 inch opening for your stitching.

By the way, the photo above is from the Alex Paras website where they sell the leather tool tote and the darling Shelly Tribbey canvas.  A little bird whispered there is a Brenda Hart stitch guide for that canvas, too!  However, you don't have to buy a canvas for the tool tote because AP Needlearts includes a free Janet Perry Bargello pattern with each purchase of that item.
