Martini Glasses with Stars from Mary Legallet

Mary Legallet of Whimsical Stitch has posted a really neat background stitch that I call Martini Glass with Stars.  (She calls it Martini with Snowflakes.)

Mary doesn't do stitch sequences on her diagrams and this is a darning stitch that is open with lots of blank canvas, so I suggest you experiment on scrap canvas to figure out the best way to stitch this to minimize dragged threads that will show on the front.

Great Tiny Snowflake Sequins

Lynn Mason, the designer behind Needlepoint by Sharese, shared where she found the lovely tiny snowflake sequins on her latest design.

They come from Etsy.  The container appears to contain four designs in white or silver, but most are white.  I can't tell if Lynn glued them in position or stitched them on but it looks like you could do either.

By the way, BnB Glitter's Etsy shop is fun to explore.  Besides gold and white snowflakes, sequins and glitter there are tiny bits of polymer clay in various shapes that might work well to embellish your canvas.

She bought them from the Kat Scrappiness website and says she got good customer service from them.  Kat Scrappiness carries lots of different sequins for scrapbooking in a variety of sizes.  Shop carefully as many don't have holes to attach them; they are meant to be glued onto paper.  You might be able to pierce those with a needle but maybe not.

This is how to add falling leaves, snowflakes, etc. to your blog.  First, add an HTML widget to your layout.  Copy/paste the codes from this site into the open widget window, making sure you switch to HTML before you paste the code into the box.  Save.   The effect will last until you remove the widget or erase the code in the box.

Sheena's Sampler - Band One and Two UPDATED

Snowflakes UPDATED

Yes, the snowflakes are now blue.

Somedays I just can't help myself when it comes to tinkering with Blog!

UPDATE:  I took the blue snowflakes down Monday but added them back until Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 7) so that Goldy could see them.  I am a bit worried about the javascript that powers the snowflakes causing problems for older computers but since Goldy was curious, they are back for a limited engagement.
