Orna Willis has been digging in the five drawers of designs she has not released and posted a few photos. These beauties inspired a musing about inspiration and how nothing is new in the art world and yet everything is.
http://ornadesign.blogspot.com/2015/03/my-weekend.html
I wish she'd just opened the drawers and taken photos. I want to see everything!

Puffins with Ann
Rosie of the NJNA chapter of ANG recently took an Ann Strite-Kurz pilot class through the San chapter of ANG. It sounds fascinating!
http://blog.njneedleartists.org/2015/03/17/two-puffins-etc/
Here's Ann's Razzle-Dazzle, by the way. You can see why Rosie and her stitching buddies were enchanted!
http://www.needleartworks.com/dsgnr/ask/ASK45.htm
If you want to see more of Ann's work, here is her website. The books (I highly recommend all of them but Backgrounds and The Science of Canvas Embroidery are my favorites) are listed in the top three rows while Ann's charts are the other rows.
http://www.needleartworks.com/dsgnr/ask/askimages.htm
If you subscribe to Needlepoint Now magazine, you've seen Ann's column on using common stitches in uncommon ways. She's a true original when it comes to her creations and a master of hiding thread paths on the back of open patterns.
https://www.needlepointnow.com/current-issue/
Ann's "Posh Pansy Petals" is ANG's upcoming Workshop by Mail if you want to to studying couching with a master.

When you give a scarf to a bulldog, magic happens.

I think the fringe is French knots on a stalk.

Amy Does a Newsletter
The latest newsletter from Amy Bunger's shop is now available! For April 2015 Amy offers a look at Access Commodities' new lace trims, tassels, Russia braid, and new soft metallic cords. There's also an explanation of basketweave beading (done with straight stitches instead of the way Don Lynch of Associated Talents does it) and a bit about her Mysteries of Needlepoint book club. Of course there's more but I'll let you find it all for yourself by clicking on this link.

Bullions Equal Embroidery Motifs

Mary Corbet takes us inside the A-Z Book of Bullions, which has been renamed the "A-Z of Embroidered Motfs" by the new owner of the publications. I think changing the name is a mistake but then I'm not a book publisher. Regardless of what you think about the title, you'll enjoy peeking inside the book to decide if it is one you'd like to add to your stitching library.

Who doesn't want to know how to create a fishing frog anyway? Seriously, take a look at his little fingers. Wouldn't knowing how to do that come in handy on many a project?
